Austin Air Pet Machine

We've been researching air purifiers and have read great things about this new Hepa filter called the Austin Air Pet Machine. The only downside is the noise level on high from what the reviews state. Does anyone out there have any experience with it?

I'm interested to know if others here use air purifiers. That might be helpful.

We actually talked with a dog groomer today who says they work on 40 dogs per day and have this filter and they say it absolutely works and makes a huge difference in their place. More to think about....

this is kind of expensive. But if it recommended by the groomer.
i wonder if there are any reasonable substitutes, for household use, with still good effectiveness?

There doesn't seem to be a cheaper substitute with this much effectiveness. I know it's alot but if it makes life more pleasant for all it's worth it. Austin is a top rated company and the machine will last a long time. Also the filters will last up to 5 years. We're seriously considering.

We purchased the Austin Air Pet Machine today and started running it tonight. We ran it on high for a couple of hours which is a bit noisy because that machine pushes alot of air. Then we dropped it to medium and that's where it is now. It's been running for 3+ hours and I really think we can feel a difference already. I hope it helps as Donna's allergies have been a bit challenging.

I hope Donna bets some relief from this. I get allergy shots for house dust (dust mites) and the shots along with changes in my cleaning regime made a big difference for me.

http://www.brookstone.com/store/thum...402&sid=140201 That's one of the ones we have. It's a royal PIA and needs to be run through 2 cycles in the dishwasher once a week but it does a great job and it's quiet.

This machine is basically maintenance free. You just need to vaccum the outside of the vents regularly and the powerful filter inside will last up to 5 years depending how dirty the enviorment is. Changing the filter looks pretty straight forward too. Donna will start her allergy shots at the end of next week so she should get results from that as well. It's not unbearable for her it's just a bit of a pain. As far as our new machine, we can feel a difference in the air in the house. It feels much "lighter". It's hard to explain but I'm not allergic to anything and I feel a difference. The important thing is Donna feels it.

The Austin Air machine - - this covers basically how much square footage of home?
I am wondering if I should look at others with my 1100 sq.ft. apartment.
I think will help things around here.

Also, where is the best place to place the item in the home for effectiveness?
