Cold weather and sleeping

Now that the nights are getting colder, MacGyver seems to get cold at night in his crate. I was thinking of getting him a heated kennel pad -- has anyone had any experience with these? Are they safe? Any other suggestions?

How about you make him a fleece blanket to lay on. They are nice and warm. I would be scared with anything electric. You never know when they might get the urge to chew. Right Judy

MacGyver sleeps indoors, right? How cold does your house get at night?

I'd agree with the fleece bedding advice. You can always throw an extra baby blanket or dog towel in his crate for him to snuggle if you think he needs a little extra bedding.

Thanks everyone -- we didn't like the idea of wires either, although MacGyver's not much of a chewer.
Missy, we're going to order the bed warmer and see how that works.

Check out this crate cover at Petedge.com It is an idea if you sew you could make him one.

Thanks, Katrina -- I was thinking of doing a Petedge order soon. They have a store near where I work, so I can order and pick up. This looks like it would help with the drafts from our front window.
