Help from those of you who have 2!!

I have been thinking of another but......

My girlfriend has a maltese same age and weight as Ollie. She and her family went away for 3 days and her baby Bear came to stay with us. Problem is - they get along too well playing, sharing toys, bones, food, my bed.....and to be quite honest...I am jealous. Seems like Ollie doesn't need me as much ....

Is this normal? do you get over that feeling - does the novelty of another pup wear off? I really like being the center of Ollies world!!

Hmm very interesting, looking forward to seeing some response as I am feeling your pain,. Monte has only been home for almost 2 weeks and its seems like Riley is more interested in him than me now.. I am assuming this will wear off in time

Awww thats so sweet. My opinion is they will get used to having each other around and then they will both worship you. Trust me. Plus its good you had Ollie first. I know some people say you get two small puppies at the same time they can bond to each other and not to you.

You will just have two doggies follow you to the bathroom.

I know that when I go to visit Tulip my friends Havanese she tells me I am just toast whenever you are around and it is true . Tulip prefers me when I am at her home ..
There were times I would spend the night at her house when I had Asta . We would go in for a playdate dinner and a sleepover . I always had the two dogs sleeping with me ..
The good news is that this is temporary and it will pass .They always love their human Mommy best .. You provide the food and protection and they know this ..
Try and go with the flow - they need their doggie stimulation too !

I think two is a must! Mine have a friendly competition with each other for my attention. One always trying to out-do the other. It is their routine to bring presents to me or anyone they are greeting. Too sweet to watch the other Hav looking for something “better” to offer their momma!

Izzy doesn't seem to be the velco kind of dog....she's very happy doing her own thing and she doesn't follow me around. This is upsetting, but so far, that's the way it is. While my daughter was home for Easter, she did interact with her Hav all the time. Their playing was more like fighting, but I guess they were having fun! I know that Izzy is lonely for her friend Zoey, and our lab just doesn't want to play. I wish I could get another Hav......

I think two dogs is a must!!! lol I truly believe that they are happier when they have a playmate. All three of my dogs are totally attached to me, but they love eachother to pieces!!! Bugsy is not a velcro dog either, he is actually a very independent Hav who is definitely an alfa, or as alfa as Romeo will allow him to be. He loves to be with me and know that I am close by, but prefers to do his own thing. He is not a lap dog and would rather be on a couch next to me than in my lap.

Ollie will definitely spend more time with a new puppy and less with you, at least in the beginning. But, it's so wonderful for them to have playmates.

Good luck with whatever you decide,

I agree that more than one is a must!! I have three and they all follow me everywhere, and sometimes fight for my attention. The funny thing is that Logan wants to be on top of me, Lexi just wants to be touching me, and Lily just needs for me to be in her sight. They do spend a lot of time together too, which is actually nice for me cause I can get some things done.
I also find that they are better behaved, and Lily barks less when she is with her "pack"

Mine do love each other. Isabelle is a people kind of dog but she was raised as the only dog for 2 years. She would much prefer hanging with people than other dogs. She does pick Dora to play with her though rather than me. Dora is a dog's dog. She loves to play with other dogs. She does enjoy playing toys with me though. She choses other dogs for run like hell and wrestle.

But I have used my power to make them pick me- I control the cookies (my favorite super power!), toy games are more fun when I tug back or throw the toy, and I think they both know I am the pack leader.

I couldn't imagine having only one dog. I love when I see them napping together, playing together, keeping each other company when we are away. I think eventually we will make our pack even bigger!

My two absolutely adore each other. They play all day long, which is great.
When it was just me and Kodi, I could never get anything done, because we were always playing.

I'm not jealous. They are so much fun to watch. And I think the novelty of the new dog does wear off a bit. Kodi jumps in my lap when he needs a hug or kiss and still loves to play ball with us. And now I have two to love!
