How Havanese keep me young...

One benefit of a lively breed like the havanese is how they help keep us young. I was 48 when I got Riki. Having a puppy made me get up early and take him for long walks, several times a day. I started running him in agility and realized I needed to get in better shape as I was incredibly winded by running I started exercising on a regular basis.

Having someone who is always happy to see me certainly improved my mood...and every time I go anywhere or move, he is right there...and Daisy too. When my husband is frustrated and Alana doing homework, my dogs are right there by my side...happy go lucky and very loving.

Today I went outdoor rock climbing with a bunch of much younger folk and I kept up with them and did some amazing 5.7 difficulty climbs on pretty steep rock. It is the dogs who have kept me agile and happy.

At work they tell me I am the fastest mover in the entire store. They have no idea of the speed of the dogs I have to keep up with. Yep, they might be little but they are as fast as lightening. And as loving as you can get.

I had a daughter at 40 which can age you pretty quick. Having the dogs balances the greys of parenthood! When I time myself out, the dogs come with me. Stroking their fur, rubbing their ears, telling them how amazing they are just comes back at me in a good way.

I have read that pet ownership can decrease blood pressure and do all sorts of wonderful things? Sometimes reading this list and laughing at the posts is great medicine. Especially the photos of the butts.

What can you do now in your newfound havanese owner youth?

I didn't just get havanese, I got a lifestyle!
Loving Havanese since 2003
