Oops...I am the "special person"...

Do you remember Peanut? He's now 13 weeks old and he's such a joy! I think I am the "special person"...which isn't the best news as we were intending for him to be more attached to the kids! Anyone else have this experience? (secretly, I am loving this... Nobody can describe how your heart melts when they give you the "Mommy" stare!) Maybe he will get more attached to the kids when they are out of school and as he gets older?

OK, brag time. He knows sit, down, roll over, spin, give paw, ring bell, and he just learned the "bang I'm dead" trick, lol. He will go to class when he's had his final boosters but anyone else have any other training ideas I can implement for now? The PT is going OK. We took a step backwards about a week ago when he started refusing to go outside, so I started to put him in his pen any time I can't really watch him and things quickly got better.

Anyway, he's such a doll. The pics don't really do him justice but I'm posting some updated ones as I know how much everyone here loves to see new photos The pics are him with our border terrier Chloe(they love each other so much!)...with the kids...and a pic of his second bath and a pic after being dried and brushed...our little fluffer nutter, lol.
Hope you are all well!

Peanut is adorable! I'm glad that he's doing so well.
Todd loves me best too. He will cuddle up with the kids or DH but if I move (even if he's sound asleep) He's instantly at my feet giving me "THE LOOK" LOl
It's nice to be loved isn't it?

Oh, he's so cute!!!!!!!!

I think the dogs quickly learn who is there the most, feeds, brushes and generally takes care of him/her the most. I am definitely Marley's person, but he loves all of us.

We don't let him sleep on the bed with us, so the kids take turns having him in their room (we didn't start that until he was potty trained, until then he slept in the crate next to our bed) and I think that has helped with bonding to them, also.

Oh he is so cute! I could give him a big squishy hug!
It sounds like you are doing wonderfully! In my experience and I've only had Quincy(in the havanese breed),he does seem to be more bonded with me. He loves everyone else too,but if he had to pick,it'd be me...and it's very obvious. We got Quincy for my little boy who is a special needs child, and he loves on him, gives him ear lickies etc. and the best part--never tries to get away from him holding him etc.but I had hoped he would be more Robbie's dog. I do think alot of it has to do with I'm with him more, potty trained him, feed him, groom him etc. I bet if you have your children do more of his care, give treats etc. he'll come around them more. He is really young yet too. He'll quickly learn who is the most fun to romp with, who gives the best treats-things like that. Don't worry! Peanut is adapting.

oooo.... such a cutie! He looks like a happy little fellow.

Yes, Roxie was supposed to be Matt's dog but she quickly bonded with me as her fave to the exclusion of anyone else at first. However, now at 8 months she loves us all. I had Matt feed her exclusively and take her out as much as feasible after I noticed how she preferred me. And then my husband started sharing in the taking out duties. Now she seems very bonded to all of us although she still is most happy when I come into the room (but then again, who wouldn't be? I *AM* wonderful, aren't I???)

Thanks so much for the replies! I love the tips of having the kids feed and bring Peanut out more. I will definitely do that!

I sent a pic and update to Linda at Prairwind and she put it on her website. Cool...I can't wait to show the kids!

ps Poornima, I imagine Peanut might end up looking like your furbaby when he's all grown up. What do you guys think?
