how do you feed?

my django has gone from a non eating hav, to a fast eating all my food hav. since his diagnosis of addisons. the combo due to the meds and fixing the problem of his illness which has been on going since a pup we have now realized. my question is he gets 1/2 a cup of food a day. in the past i would put all his food in the bowl and hope he would eat some of it. now i;ll put half down in themorning and half down later. i am having a hard time figuring out the feeding times. he eats at 7am, is 5 pm too late for his second feeding. i'll put a few pieces of kibble in a kong ball in the afternoon but i'm not sure if that's worse cuz it makes him hungrier. need advice.

I think what ever works for your schedule. My boys eat between 7-8 in the am and 6-7 in the pm- they get a few treats during the day. are your sure all he needs is 1/2 cup a day? maybe a little more in the am...1/3 in the am and 1/4 at night?

Mine get 3/4 cup a day. I put it down in the morning and refill it the next morning. Some days they don't eat very much.
By the way, I am so jazzed to hear how well Django is doing! It's amazing!! Wonderful!

Is django on prednisone? This is a real appetite increaser. However you still need to feed on a schedule that works for you. Mine get breakfast at 5:30 am and diner 12- 13 hours later.

yup, he's on prednesone and that's why he's eating now! i give him a 1/4 cup plus a bit more each feeding so he probably gets 3/4 cup a day. i wasn't sure if 10 hours between meals was okay but it seems to be the standard so thanks to everyones response.

Wow, maybe that is why MoJo is sick! I may not be feeding him enough. I feed him once a day at around 1:30. He gets 1/2 cup of EaglePack with some canned food or plain yogurt. Is that enough? He is 1yr old next month and weighs about 9-10 pounds.

Tori gets fed 1/4 c. kibble with 1 tsp. dried egg yolk for breakfast at 6 am. She often doesn't finish it before dinner time which is at 6 pm. Depending on what's left from breakfast, she gets another 1/4 c. of kibble mixed with 1 tbl. of canned. She will usually eat most of that but, not always. She weighs around 7.5 lbs.

Ageleke, so glad Django is doing so well. What a wonderful thing to be concerned about considering where you've been. I'm not much help with when to feed - we free feed Gracie and she just eats when she wants. Probably 1/4 cup or slightly more for the entire day, but she is only 4 lbs. 14 oz. (13 mos.) - so that's not going to help you much except maybe an average to figure out how much per pound they eat.

That would be an interesting survey - How much do your havs eat per pound that they weigh? Interesting . . . Though - How would you figure that out? What would be the math?
