Dog Show Question

There's a dog show in town Fri-Sun (conformation, agility, obedience, rally), so I thought it'd be a great opportunity to go observe agility, obedience, and rally which I have interest in... Our agility instructor mentioned the show and she seemed to think I wouldn't be allowed to take Toby with me.
Is that typical? I thought I'd read about those of you don't show taking your dogs to shows. I don't want to get there and not be allowed in.

Ani- it always says no unentered dogs allowed. However, a lot of people do take unentered dogs. So I guess it is whether you are willing to risk it or not.

Ahh... I may leave him home tonight because it's just 5-8 for the expertest agility (I don't know the terms yet, haha). Tomorrow I might risk it so I don't have to leave him home all day. Thanks Amanda.

Ani- It is a good idea to expose him to agility if you plan on him performing later so I admit, I have taken my dogs to shows that weren't entered. Another thing you could see if you could do is steward for agility. The nice thing is just fluff the chute or set jump heights then you get to sit right in all day right in the action, learn quite a bit, and usually you get a free lunch

Ani do you know if the show is inside or out? Some inside shows near me it's hard to bring a dog in that is not registered for the show. If it is outside you shouldnt have too much of a problem, if anyone says anything tell them you are training and getting him use to all the noises and excitment at an agility trial.

How old is your dog? If under six months, it will be obvious that he/she shouldn't be there. If older just act like you know what you are doing and no one will bother you.

I "get" agility now! I'm glad I went. I'm going to check out obedience and rally tomorrow. Maybe some more agility trials too. I couldn't believe how difficult the expert course was... I only saw 2 dogs qualify!
