Oops bought the wrong food - can eat this stuff?

I ran out of Henry's regular food and ran to the market.
Picked up this "Beneful" food. It has like larger chunks.

He's eating it, but should he be eating it? with the larger chunks and all.

If you aren't doing a slow transition from his old food to the new food, he will prob get diarrhea~
I don't think Beniful is a very good quality food~ What was he eating before?

I used a sample sack I got at a Pet Expo as "treats" for training and Roxie had no trouble with it. But that was piece at a time. Don't know if that helps any.

PS I love the autumn picture of Henry in the flowers!

I just took Logan and Lexi off of the WD food from the vets, cause they dont really need it, and I starte buying them Beneful, and they love it!! I am guessing it is ok. I am sure it is not as high end as some, but my guys also get yogurt and vet diet wet food.

I was getting him Life's Abundance from Trilogy via mail order.

At least he's eating dog food now, two weeks ago he ate the cat's food and ended up with diarrhea , ugh !
Well I guess if he can handle the larger chunks util we have the other stuff he should be okay.

I don't know anything about this food, but I checked www.dogfoodanalysis.com They rate dog food on the scale of 6 stars (highest quality) to 1 star (lowest quality) and Beneful only scored 1 star. You can check the web site for good food recommendations.

He's probably ok if its soft/wet and larger chunks. I've seen that Merrick can also be really chunky like that. You can always get a fork and chop it down a little, too.

I hope he doesn't get diarrhea! My experience has been it only happens with the transition of wet food, but once they get used to wet food and drop their water consumption down (since they don't need as much water to pass the stools) than they go back to normally hard stools.

You may have problems with diarrhea going straight from the Life Abundance to Beneful. I wouldn't leave him on Beneful long term but I can't imagine that you'll cause any damage if you're just feeding him that until your new shipment of Life Abundance comes in. By the way, I've heard nothing but good things about Life Abundance.....
(and nothing but bad about foods you can buy at the grocery store.)

Cicero is now eating Pro Plan...since it was the only kibble he finally would eat...and believe me when I say I tried them all (and gave them away.) DH did buy him the wet Beneful "beef stew" and he "loves" it...but I worried about it being good enough.

Now, I gave up years ago trying to get my human kids to eat they veggies....when they wanted burgers and fries. I was just happy for them to eat. DH says I should be that way with Cicero...that he should get to eat things he likes...not eat because he is starving. "It's a hard job trying to be a good Mom...at times."

So funny that you use the "only wanted to eat burgers and fries" comment~
I have always understood the lower quality food to be comparable to McDonalds. Of course the dogs will eat it, it's full of yucky fillers that aparently taste really good. But it's not the best food to have your dog on--- just like it's not healthy to eat McDonalds every day.
