When does Cuba need a sweater?

Please don't laugh at me, but it is getting kind of cold in Georgia, at least I think so It was probably in the 60s today. When I went out for our evening walk, *I* was cold. That made me wonder when will Cuba need a sweater to romp outside? I know his coat is more so to protect from the sun than for insulation. Since I hate being cold, I don't want him to be cold. Any signs I should look for?

And to think I am a Connecticut transplant...

Sorry I can't help you here. My 3 year old, Rico plays in the snow NAKED! (as you can see in my avatar)! He won't come inside until he has snow balls covering his feet and tummy. Then I have to sit him in the sink in warm water and melt the snowballs. He loves the winter in New England!

But I must admit my 4 month old, Lucy does shiver and look at me helplessly on our late night potty runs. I am debating putting a sweater on her for those 40 degree and colder outings.

Rory, in Massachusetts.

Cuba will shiver when he's cold. Every dog, I've found while talking to other Hav owners, is different as to what he will tolerate. In the 60's, though, is pretty high and he should be fine. I wouldn't worry about it until it gets to 40s or below. Kubrick gets a sweater put on him if it's 35 or below. Above that, he is fine.

I have found that Linus shivers when it is in the lower 60s or below. But...he doesn't have much body weight to keep him warm. I am looking for a fleece that has a silky/satin liner to reduce matting. Any suggestions???

MacGyver hates sweaters, so he'd rather run out, pee, and run right back in. The cold doesn't really seem to bother him, but we do have a jacket for really cold weather.

I've been wondering the same thing, it's cold out there in the mornings!

I got the cutest reversible red and blue parka from Target. I just hope I know when he is shivering and not being "puppy-like". There is a freeze warning in the mountains tonight so mybe I'll use it tomorrow.

I have to get adjusted to this "cold" too. Usually in the Georgia winter, I go from my garage to work and then from work back to my garage. I am seldom outside so this will be an adjustment for me too...

Todd got his first jacket about a month ago when he started shivering and refusing to go outside in the morning when it was cold out.
He now has two jackets and a hoodie but he hates his hoodie so it's going to find a new home...lol

This might be a stupid question, but is the shivering the same as when they had a bath. It seems really exaggerated then. So far, Cuba has been fine. I'm the one who's cold.

Beamer loves the cold.. more than the hot, thats for sure! Last winter he rarely wore a winter coat. He is fine at 0C (32F) but when we get into much lower temps such as -20C (-4F) we put on the jacket. Even at these low temps he still does not mind being outside for extended periods of time.
