I am beginning to have a complex...

So, meeting a few of you this past August and seeing how little of a coat Posh has, I thought "am I doing something wrong?"

I thought maybe I was "over brushing" her and started to skip one to two days. Every time I skipped, especially the two days in between, she would have a few mats and I thought , "this isn't working..."

Most of you know the "equipment" I use is good: CC pin brush, CC buttercomb, CC fine face comb...and I bathe her about every two weeks.

I feed her well too...even put in probiotic supplement, flax seed oil, and have lately been giving her a dried fish treat for more Omega 3's.

I look at her and she looks perfect to me, but on Saturday when we were at the Fun Match, a breeder who knew Posh as a wee one, and the Fun Match judge asked, "Where did her coat go? or What happened to her coat?" something like that, I can't remember exactly because I felt like crap hearing something like that...

Posh's breeder responded "Well, that was her puppy coat."

Anyway, she isn't cottony or poofy or even seemingly "double coated."

I think she's perfect...but I admit it kind of made me sad to hear the comment.

Ahh, Amy, I think she's beautiful. None of us is perfect in every way, and she must be perfect other than having a thick, full coat. And for some people, that IS perfection, too. I've never seen her other than her pictures on your posts, but I love her coloring!

Amy, So what is so off about her coat? I thought coat type varies so much with these guys? From what I've seen anyhow, thats how it sure seems! I would not lose any sleep over it!

I think Posh's coat looks beautiful! My boys' coats, while both silky, are very different. Carlito's is profuse, while Nico's is more fine and wispy. One of the things that really attracted me to this breed was the diversity, I think every Hav is a little unique and very adorable.

I knew I'd come to the right place..."my warm and fuzzy forum."

Her coat is perfect for me, easy to maintain and doesn't take long to blow dry...which I know she appreciates.

Sorry this is a double thread...I have a slow internet connection and a happy "posting" finger.

Since this posted twice, it looks like you have more than one complex
Amy why don't you post pictures of her?

It was definitely the "comment" from the other breeder that made me feel like I was doing something...I was of course so proud of her and was looking forward to them seeing how nicely she has aged. So, I'm sure I am/was a bit sensitive.

Aaaahh, Amy...she is perfect! Such a beauty. I'm no expert, but I can tell you, Ollie has a poofy coat and it ain't no fun. I'm hoping it will grow back nicely since I had him cut down, but judging from the way he still manages to mat with an inch long coat, I'm not feeling hopeful. Posh is beautiful exactly they way she is.
