Public Hug!!!

I probably should just let this go... but I feel like I lost some forum friends over the politics thread I started and I worry that others have hard feeling towards each other too. I loved reading that thread most of the time, but hated that I started it when it got ugly, and was truly saddened that people left over it... It gave me a perspective I don't think many of us have a chance to see living in our own little worlds. But I totally understand why some of you didn't think we should mix politics with our Havs.

So to all of you, my dear forum friends, I want to offer apologies and hugs. There is not one person on here who I think any differently of because of your choice or your words. I would just like ask again, if I ever say something on here that offends you please let me know privately--- I probably don't even know that I did it.

Right back at ya Missy! I'm glad you started the thread, it took some guts. It's so easy to listen to what's going on in your own backyard but we don't often hear what's happening in other parts of the country, and in this case, the world! The best part was hearing from other regular people, just like us, not what the media wants to "portray". I thought it was great even though it got my blood pressure up on several occasions.

I knew when you started that dang thread that there would be trouble. But, all you had to do was choose not to open it. I read most of it and posted a few times, and found some of what you all had to say very enlightening. I'm sorry if feelings got hurt. I know that is not why Missy started the thread.

No hurt feelings here Missy....I do not do politics. After the election I did read the last page which I am sure is not the last page anymore....LOL! I didn't see anything wrong with what I had read that day. So hugs to you sister! Don't get me wrong I do vote but I vote how I want to vote because that is my right and everyone elses....I sometimes think it is good to hear others because they may see something that I do not see.....but I try to stay out of the politics because I hear plenty from my students at school...LOL! Hugs to you girl!

Missy, you don't have anything to apologize for. Everyone participating in that thread was an adult and you are not responsible for what others said or others choosing to participate.

Your reason for starting that thread was good. I too was undecided at that point and interested in different perspectives. I'm still stunned at some of the postings but that wasn't your doing and there was a lot of good information posted.

Yeah, that's what I say. I knew I didn't want to go there--so didn't.

I can only speak for me---but at first I thought it could be fun to join in and give people our opinions/thoughts/life experiences in getting people to have an open mind and understand why others felt the way they do,and view things from their point of view. When it got ugly(fairly quickly) I bailed out. I think the people on the forum each come with their own life experiences and it is interesting and could of been a fun discussion,however--I was surprised at how pulverized people were. Maybe it is just me--but I do view people differently now and I wish I had never even read or had the opportunity to read such a thread. For now I think it has changed the forum--it is still very fresh and I hate to see any threads pop up about any politicans at all-but it's a free world and people can talk about all sorts of things and whatever they choose.

For me however-I plan to be more selective about what threads I decide to read.

Who left the forum? Or do you mean the thread itself?
