Hiding treats, he never did this before

Henry is just over 2 yrs old now, and he's never done this:

I gave Henry a piece of rawhide today.
He loves these things and normally eats it immediately.
Today though he spent a majority of the day hiding it.

First, under a pillow on the sofa.
Then under a pile of papers.
It then got carried to the bedroom where he hid it in the closet - and then guarded it.
After I let him know I knew where it was, he moved it to my bed, under the covers.
And then at some point I had things to do, but the next place I found it was in the cushions of the sofa again.

i think he eventually ate it around 7:30pm. He was doing this for 6 hrs. (with a nap or two in there).

Wonder what took him so long to develop this instinctual behavior.

That is so funny! Kubrick is not a hider of treats at all. He's never done it before. It was funny to watch Pablo, Maryam's dog, do this when he was over here for the weekend. I wonder if Kubrick will "learn" this eventually like Henry.

Todd's never really hid treats.
He makes a big show of burying them in blankets sometimes though before eating them.

Seamus does it with all most every treat, it is soooo wonderful when you get into bed to find a piece of cheese (hard by that point) under your covers!!!! lol

Gyff will only do it with certain treats - usually a flossie. He gets so upset, not knowing where the best place to put it is. My Shepherd I had growing up was notorius for doing it. She would take her bones and even little treats like wishbone biscuits and bury them in the cushions. She would try to dig them into the carpet. All the while, she was crying and whining. It's been over 20 years and I still really miss her. She was also a real coward. Whenver it would thunder out, she would hide in the bathtub, under the bed, in the closet. She'd howl whenver there was a siren. She was 80 pounds of total chicken.

Nope...no treat hiders around here! I'm certain that Kai, our lab, would find any hiden treats. Doc and Izzy are well aware of that, so any treats are eaten when given!

The best solution is to add another Neezer. We used to find Belle cookies all over the house but as soon as we added Dora that stopped! Dora FINDS EVERYTHING! Even things she isn't suppose to- my pocket thread, emptying my husband bag if he leaves it on the ground, items in my purse, etc.

Maybe those hide a bee's, treatball, etc arent good toys after all!

Thinking of adding a Neezer, check out this thread!

At least there's some hiding going on. At my place it's virtually impossible. If I give something to my guys they eat it right then and there. Brando might on occassion run through the house looking for a spot to eat it alone, but after about 10seconds he comes back to sit next to Bogart. I guess he figures he wants to be close by just in case more food comes out.

I used to be able to hide some treats in the house every morning before leaving for work. Sometimes I would put treats in a tricky treat ball and put it under a pillow or back into the toy box. I would sometimes do the same with 2 Kongs. That way when I'm gone for work hopefully sometime during the day they will find the treats. Well that is simply not possible anymore. My guys have gotten sooooo smart. As soon as they finish breakfast they run through the house checking the toy box, looking under the couch, and flipping all my couch pillows onto the floor, all looking for treats. I even tried locking them in the bedroom until I've hidden the treats. No go, they find them in a minute flat. I've now given up. I just dump the tricky treat ball behind a pillow and leave. By the time I'm at the door, I can hear the ball rolling along the floor....

Chances are if your parents never had kids...you won't either...

Oliver has always done that. Now they don't stay hidden for long because Comet will come over to see what's up.

Sally,((Oliver)) Comet and Pennie too!

Bentley makes a huge production out of hiding a treasure! Unfortunately, he does it right in front of Eddie. As soon as Bentley leaves the room- Eddie takes it!
