when smoke gets in your eyes

Poor Riki, his eyes are so red...he is rubbing all the coat off of them from the fires. We had one south of us about ten miles, and the rest are about 30 miles away...but it looks like light snow with the ash all day yesterday and today.

Today when he was sniffing the ground looking for another place to mark or pee, he kept sneezing from the ash. Ah what a mess...so hopefully the winds will slow down and the firemen can get out the big blazing areas. They are working so hard.

I hope all of you in Southern California are safe...and breathing well.

Any suggestions for Riki's eyes? Daisy is just itching all over like always when the Santa Anas blow.

I didn't just get havanese, I got a lifestyle!

Oh Linda. My eyes are watering just THINKING about all that smoke. I haven't watched much about the fires (don't have the news on during the weekends, cause of the kiddos)
But, I heard from a friend out there who said they were pretty bad.
Hope things clear up soon!!!

We lucked out here in Carpinteria, even though the fire was only 12 miles from us, we haven't had any smoke or ash...the winds must have carried it the other direction.
I don't know what you can do for his eyes...poor guy.

We're ok over here, but are all feeling nauseous from the smoke The ash has made the pool look like a disgusting gray "soup". Poor Tori's sneezing more than usual, I think the smoke is irritating her nose. We tried to stay indoors as much as possible over the weekend.

Linda~ Could you maybe try rinsing them w/a solution like we use for irritated eyes? Maybe something like Nature's Tears, but not Visine, since it has other ingredients that may harm his eyes.

I do hope they get this under control. That must be very tough dealing with fires. We are lucky we do not deal with things such as this in our area. I don't have any ideas Linda in dealing with the effects on the pets. It must be extremely unhealthy for people as well as animals. Maybe you could give a call to your vet? He/she may have some good advice.

We're in Claremont, just north of the Complex fire.
