I am not ready for this stage.

Well our 13 year old lab Lizzie has been having some issues with peeing in the house. We thought she had a bladder infection so on Friday we took in a sample of her urine. They said that it looked fine. So today we did a blood panel and looks like her kidney's are not functioning how they should. He prescribed Science diet K/D formula. It is suppose to be for kidney's. He is going to test her levels in three months. I know she is getting old or is old but she acts just fine. Plays with the younger ones. He said that we just caught it in the beginning stages. The food we were feeding her was not good on her kidneys. I just know that she will not live forever just not ready to go through it. She is my big baby. My hubby has had her since she was a puppy. She really loves her daddy. Here is a pic of her in her chair if she can't have the couch.

Megan, I hope that the medication helps Lizzie. Good luck!

She looks so sweet.

Megan, I know how you feel because we went through that with our lab at 12 years. He lived a long time for a 135 lb dog. Labs are such sweethearts. I hope the meds and change of diet work and he lives to a ripe older age!

I hope the new food helps. It is so hard to have our pets grow old.

Awww, I'm so sorry...but I hope the new food and meds work and extend the quality of her life.
We had to put our 12 year old kesshond/aussie mix down last December. We got her at 6 weeks old...if I had known then what I know now about dogs and food, I am sure she would have had a longer life. For the first 10 years of her life she ate crappy dog food.
She looks like a sweetie pie!

I have tears in my eyes just thinking about....well not going to say it. We love these babies so much and really don't think when they are six weeks old want heartache we will go through. We really want to do all we can to help her live a long and happy life. We just never know about these little ones.

{{hug}} I've never gone through this but I can imagine what it feels like. She is lucky to have family who loves her so much and enriches her senior years.
