Thanks so much everyone. I love my Gryff
I just wanted to report to everyone who has helped me with my Gryff issues over the past year that he has gotten so good with the family. DH said to me today that he feels like he just got a dog over the last few weeks. Gryff will come to Chuck and Alec when called. He isn't under my feet all the time anymore. When I let him out of the crate in the morning, he doesn't always follow me right down the hall. Sometimes, he will jump on the bed and curl up with Chuck instead of hang out with me. He gets really excited to see us when we come home - not just me. He and Alec are doing so much better now. The growling has stopped and Alec can scoop Gryff up with no issues at all.
We finally have a family dog and it feels wonderful. I think the crate was the biggie. The one we had was too small and he hated it. Now, I just tell him to go to bed and he crawls right into his crate. The other night, he did it without me even saying a word. Too bad he can't close the door and lock it too.
So, thanks again to everyone who advised me and helped me through this process. There were two periods when I really thought it wasn't going to work out and I'm so glad I hung in there. I can't believe I have a CGC and Therapy Dog certified family dog now who has a pretty large and growing arsenal of tricks.
