Red face How to prepare the dogs for a "new addition"

Hello my dear havanese friends, I have a question which I desperately need advice for.

First, big news - My DH and I are expecting our first baby due in March.

Does anyone have training tips or advice for getting the furkids ready for this new addition? I love both my dogs dearly and they have essentially been my children since we got them. I want the transition to go smoothly and am eager to hear of any advice anyone has on how to get them ready for this experience.

I appreciate it!

Estrella,
I am so happy for you Congratulations!!
Do you guys know what you are having??

Hey from our past conversations I guess will mean that you will be able to get your other Hav like you wanted

As far as introducing the dogs with the baby, all I can say is we just made things seems as normal as possible. As if this new little person was a very welcomed guest and the dogs just fell in love. We didn't ignore them or change their routines so therefore I don't think they felt like this new person was taking their place.

Good luck with your new bundle of joy, what's your due date??
My oldest son's b-day is march 18

Oh thank you ladies!

It is a BOY and the little man is due March 14! I cant believe how close he is to your son's birthday Heather.

I will be patiently wait to get another Hav, but only when the time is right. =)

Huge congrats, that is wonderful new! As for the baby/neezers, I think Heather's advise is good. Most important, don't forget to give the dogs attention as they can become jealous. You are both wonderful neezer parents so I am sure you will also be wonderful human parents too and will find that loving all 3 of your "children" will be very natural for you.

Congratulations!!!! How exciting. My daughter is due in 5 weeks. She just had an ultrasound on Monday and the tech said that he (yes, it is a he without a doubt) is about 5lbs 9oz.

As for getting the dogs ready, I have to prepare mine and she has 2 Dachsies to prepare. We are hoping with all the baby stuff around, they will get used to different things in the house. We are also giving them different smells, like baby powder, lotion, etc. We are also getting a doll that she can use to simulate having a baby in the house.

Good luck to you!
