Behaviorist in Bay Area? HELP!

Can anyone give a referral to a dog behaviorist in the Bay Area, preferrably in the East Bay? (I used to know a woman who did this, but she moved and I don't know where she is now.)

This is an urgent situation for a family that just took in an older Havanese and needs help.

Even if you don't know a specific behaviorist, if you can refer a good trainer that may be able to provide a lead, it would be very helpful. I gave her a couple of places to call, but they were just from internet searches, and she'd really prefer a referral if a stranger is going to come into her home, understandably so.

Kimberly, McKenna's trainer is very good (positive reinforcement training) but he only goes as far as Livermore, Dublin. He might, however, have a recommendation for someone in the area. I'll email him and find out.

I will PM you

Brutus and Roxie received their puppy training from this person. Although this is a professional referral, I do not have her permission to post it on this side. She has extensive experience with difficult dogs.

Susan, if he has a personal referral that would be great.

Cheryl, thank you a million! I got your message and am forwarding it to her right away. I really appreciate all the specific info about the trainer. Thank you!

Hi Kimberly. Here is a letter from a member. of IPDTA. Check out Nancy Weller with Pawsitively Fabulous - she is an awesome
trainer (CPDT) covers the Bay area. Nancy was my mentor and is the
person who got me into training. Her website is http://www.pawsitivelyfabulous.com/

The puppy trainer I used through Sirius Pup is very good. She does home training visits, but I don't know if she is a behaviorist. Her name is Keri Lyall and can be found through www.siriuspup.com. She lives in Martinez and covers the tri-valley corridor. Maybe she could give a reference for a good behaviorist.

I think this trainer (San Leandro) might be good too:

Kimberly,
They can also try www.barkbusters.com, and see if they have someone in her area. I do know someone who used them and they had wonderful results.
