Paige is driving me crazy!

About a week ago, she figured out how to jump up on the couch. She really thinks she is hot stuff. The problem is, she won't jump down! She barks and whines, yips and cries. So about 1000 times a day, I have to go help her off the couch!

We have tried everything to get her to jump down, toys, treats, and even pushing her off so she knows it's ok to jump~ Silly girl!! Gotta love them!

That is soooo funny! What if you ignored her? Left the treat o the floor, but went about your business? I think she has not figured out this is possible. I also think we need a video. Have you heard about the Flip Video? See my other thread.

Cheryl~ You are too funny! Santa got my kiddos a small video recorder for Christmas last year. I may have to get it out and video her~
If I leave her up on the couch, she carries on forever! And she has quite the (annoying) bark!

I think if she is still little it may be too high a jump down.

When Henry was a pup, I blocked off all the stairs, and discouraged him from going down. The couch had the little staircase for him to use to go down.

A few times that he did go up the stairs, he would wimp and bark cause he could not get down.

Even today at just over 2 yrs he's always very careful going down the stairs.
I trained him this way because I had read in a dog book that these little guys will sometimes blow off the last 2 steps for a big jump and can get hurt.

So it was really my doing.
Get her a little staircase, it'll be better in the long run.

That must be frustrating! We definitely need a video of this. As Cheryl said, maybe putting her favorite treat on the floor and walking out might entice her to jump down.

Paige is so very pretty...and has you wrapped around her finger.

This is what I did...but it might have been a mistake. Cicero would not jump down either...so I removed one of the sofa cushions and put it in the floor for him to land on. I refused to put him down so he quickly learned to get to the lowest place..then jump on the cushion. After a few times I put the cushion back...and he would push the throw pillows in the floor and jump on them.....and still does. Now, I'm tring to get him to "leave it" and not make the soft landing!!

Well, Paige is just too cute! That's even worse than being a dog doorman!
