Boston Dog Show Dec 4 thru 7

Is anyone going to the Boston dog show this weekend at the Bayside Expo? I think we're going up on Sunday. Josh has basketball on Saturday 12:30-1:30, we may go up afterwards. I'm not sure yet. I want to bring Izzy. Has anyone ever brought their dog to a show if the dog wasn't in the show?

Wouldn't that be fun? But, I don't think the show lets in any dogs that aren't in the show. One of the show folks will surely say for sure, though.

Marianne I just checked the schedule, the havs are on Sat. @ 1:15 and on Sun. @ 10:30. I still need to ask DH if he wants to go, I would prefer Sun were it is early. If you do decide to go you will have to leave Izzy at home they do not allow dogs in that are not showing.

How do I find out how many Havs will be in the show? Couldn't I bring Izzy in as a Meet the Breed participant?

Marianne the schedule says 11 havs each day, as far as sneaking Izzy in I would do that near the agility ring. Where this is an event you have to pay to get in they have guards at every door. I would go in and pay then go out , grab Izzy and come back in through the door where the agility is going on, they only have 1 guard there checking stamped hands. I am still not 100% sure if they check for a pass or anything for the dogs coming in and out of the building, could be risky.

Leeann Bond I just see you slidding across the building with Riley in your arms and jumping thru the window! You could always see if they are doing health testing, etc?

Most shows you can take dogs not entered... you just dont want to be obvious doing it so you don't get caught. However just remember there are negatives of taking your dogs to show especially if your dog isn't use to all the people, dogs, sounds, etc. Then there are things like parvo, too.

Amanda, it's interesting you mention the diseases. I was just talking to a breeder last night and mentioned that I was going to Eucanuba next week and she said, no, don't go! You could bring home diseases on your clothes or shoes. Then transfer them to your dogs. What do you think about that? A little over board?

Carole- I think that may be going a little too far. Maybe if you have baby puppies at home or an elderly dog. It would be like not sending your kid to school cause there is all kinds of children and germs there.

I just think they have those rules cause there are risks and they don't want everyone bringing their dog so they make the rules. Have I taken, unentered dogs- yeah, especially when only one was shown and I had the others with me but I usually have a crate or the stroller (Belle escaping and it being announced!). I have been to a show where there was a parvo outbreak though and that is pretty scary!
