Question This whole dog food situation is getting nuts.............

So for an update...Duncan was fine on Merrick until a few months ago ,he just stopped eating it,and I smelled it and something just wasn't right so I switch to Nutro. He adjusted very well...I read something that Nutro isn't what its cracked up to be so after some research I began the switch to Natural Balance(the one made by Dick Van Patten)........nope this is not working for Duncan.....it honeslty looks like he really doesn't like it and eats it b/c he is getting the idea that's all he's getting........so now his stools are loose......could it be this dog food????????
Now I need to find another dry food and do another slow transition.
I'm looking into Wellness or Blue Buffalo.....anyone here have any experience with either of these???????
Is there a dry food out there that all dogs will eat no matter what?????????
Sorry for ranting..........................
thanks
Dot

Nope, sorry... seriously, every dog is different just like every person is different. You wouldn't expect every single person to like one type of food, would you?

I do understand your frustration... why don't you go to a store and get a bunch of samples of GOOD food (look at www.dogfoodanalysis.com), put them out in little bowls and see which one he goes for. Once he picks one, feed that to him and don't give in to his pickiness. If you keep switching the food because he won't eat, you're telling him that his food gets changed every time he refuses a meal.

Good luck!

Lina,
thanks for the advice......but there are no small private pet stores around me...and the one that is close by doesn't have any samples..believe me I've already asked.
I am familiar with dogfoodanalysis....but I would much rather hear from a member here and read their review.
So,what does Kubrick eat?????????
thanks!!

I used to feed Blue Buffalo and they seemed to like it. I switched when all the dog food stuff happened, but I have been thinking of switching back. My two would starve if I only gave them kibble. I have to add something to it for them to eat. I am giving them EVO Red Meat Small Bites right now with some Little Cesar in it. I also bake chicken for them, or ground turkey. They don't really like veggies, but I smash them up and add to food. They do not like Wellness.

I feed Kubrick Fromm's Duck and Sweet Potato. He loves it. He also has tried Evo Red Meat Small Bites and really liked it too. I'm thinking of switching between the two foods every 4 bags or so to ward off allergies. He doesn't have any yet, but I'm afraid of him developing an allergy by sticking to the same food all the time. Anyway, that's not your question... I would say that either of those are great foods and if Duncan likes them, they will be good for him.

Cazzie and Chelsie do very well on Merrick. Chelsie was on Iams when we first got her but I weaned her over to Merrick so she and Cazzie would eat the same thing. I wonder if your bag was expired?

Cazzie needs a relatively high fiber content since he is prone to constipation. I tried to feed him regular chicken as a supplement, for example, but he got bound up right away. Very few brands have a high enough fiber content for him. Not funny when you have to give him an enema!

Vinny and Lulu eat Evo chicken small bites. They were extremely picky so I had to determine which one I thought was best for them. I put it down and left it there. After 3 days they were both eating. I have tried others since but they will only eat the Evo and it is healthy. Really nice firm stools.

I have my whole crew on Wellness. The adults are on the Super 5 Mix and the puppy on Just for Puppy. I love Wellness. And so do my dogs. I get it at a mom-and-pop shop, but I do know they sell it at Petco.

Todd eats EVO Red meat and Chicken and Turkey.
It's the first food that we've tried that has given him nice firm poop (lol..this is the only place I can talk about my dog's poop )
