Kibble Sorting?

Does any of your havs do this? I mixed in some new kibble and Quincy strung it out in about a 15 foot area sorting it. He ate the new first, and then did clean up almost all the rest---but what a mess!

Do they make divider plates for dogs?

Do you eat all your food mixed together???? Belle is HORRIBLE about that. I mix kibble generally two brands all the time. You always find Belle sorts them and only eats one. She also carries the food wherever people are and sometimes will spit it out and decide she doesnt want it. I always have kibble on the ground here!

Oh yes Julie. Jasper has to have his kibble on a separate plate from his medallions... We also have a mix of kibbles and he will take some in his mouth from the plate... place it on the rug and eat the "good" kibble first, take another mouthful and eat the good kibble out of that batch...and it goes on and then just like Quincey does clean up on the rest! Cash never moves his mouth from the bowl....LOL. So funny these Havs.

Kubrick likes to eat in "mouthfuls." He'll take a bit in his mouth, run to his bed, spit it out and then eat each kibble one by one. Then he runs back to the bowl, takes another mouthful and so on. It's funny to watch and when people first see it, they don't get what he's doing, LOL. However, if he's really hungry he'll stay at the bowl and eat. He's a strange boy.

Do you guys have any suggestions on how to keep the other dog from snatching Quincy's up? I'm been trying and trying to keep Vinnie on a very restricted diet and have used the reduced calorie kibble for him to keep him "light" because of his leg....when he acted starved-and had not reduced his weight(no treats either) in over a year-----I decided to put him on a regular kibble thinking he wasn't feeling full and satisfied. Now the problem has become Quincy never ever stays at his bowl and eats....and I have to watch Vinnie like a hawk because when Quincy leaves to sort----Vinnie will eat his kibble. Vinnie is prone to poopy butt on any changes in kibble or even a sneak treat from the table(my husband!) Oh--and you ain't lived till you clean up poopy butt on a sheltie with big "fur pants"! OMG!

Any ideas other then seperating them?

Really Amanda? How do you keep one from over-eating and one from not getting enough?

Quincy is so funny, Julie!

Scout will snatch Lincoln's kibble, from the bowl. I have to guard Lincoln's food - I usually stand near Lincoln's bowl while he eats and give Scout the "no no" look. Then he'll lay down like a pillbug, waiting to pounce. Often, Lincoln will leave exactly ONE kibble in the bowl for him.

Julie, I have to feed them in separate rooms...Jasper takes his time and will not eat if he feels rushed and Cash of course is done before Jaspers plate even hits the floor. So Cash eats in the kitchen and Jasper eats in the dining room (and where ever he drags his kibble) I don't open the door until Jasper is done. And then Cash gets to lick jaspers bowl and hunt for any missed pieces of kibble. Do you have a room with a door you could close?

Jane,
Aww, how cute that Lincoln leaves a tiny gift for Scout! Wonder what he's thinking...is it a gift, or a taunt? Ha!
