POOP here there and everywhere

I am DISGUSTED with Lilly she will not poo in the yard it has to be the deck and just now the den. She has no problem with peeing in the yard but not pooing. What is with her?

Katrina...SOphie and Gabriel will do this when the grass is wet, or when it's raining..OR when I am driving in my Lexus..

The only way around it is to take your Hav out on a leash when you know she needs to poo..

FYI..See Amanda's thread about "Pooptraps"

Brady won't poop in his play area. We fenced off part of the yard for Brady and Dugan and he will not poop in the fenced area. I must take him out on the leash into the other side of the yard to get him to poop. I guess he thinks his play area should remain clean.

Don't know if this would help anyone...But, if I NEED Tucker to do his business, (like I'm about to take him to class, or leave for a long period of time,) I take him out for a brisk walk around the neighborhood till he goes. Usually only takes 5-10 minutes. The fast pace seems to really get things moving.

Katrina - We have the same issue with Jake & Jazz. They have no problem peeing outside and haven't had a pee accident in the house in over a month but they will not poop outside. They will poop on the deck or they will sneak downstairs and poop on the ceramic tile. They are even bell trained. Let me know if you find a solution.

I think the Havs really have strong preferences for surfaces on which they eliminate. Benji needs it very dry and clean and he would go on wood (decks) or brick or asphalt, he doesn't like grass, anything that is wet. Lizzie on the other hand prefers wet grass or something soft underneath her paws. She will go leaves, grass, or even wet soft gravel.

We have a doggy door and I place piddle pads on rainy days (or even when the air is moist) near the doggie door and outside on the patio. On rainy, moist days both do not like to venture out. They use the piddle pads. I have placed a large piece of cheap wood board from Home Depot to mimick wood deck on our covered patio. When Benji doesn't like the feel of the moist brick, he uses that board. It is easy to keep it clean too.

Best, Poornima

That poop trap is HILARIOUS. BUT no thanks. Now the board on the deck IS an idea worth investigating. She IS bell trained but it seems like when she needs to do THIS she barks to go out the deck door?!?! Perhaps it is the weather? We have been having COLD (for us) and snow (doesn't lay just blows around) so maybe it is just too wet for her but she will pee so what gives? Little prissy butt.
