Carpet

I was wondering what type of carpet everyone has that they found wore well with the their Havis and their RLH episodes. We were told no loop carpet which includes the berber that I love. My husband is not inclined to use laminate in our family room. We will be replacing carpet upstairs as well as living and dining area. Thanks for your advice.

Sorry, we have all hardwood with orientals.

We used to have carpeting, just on the stairs and in the upstairs hallway. I'm not quite sure what it was... It was there when we bought the house. When we did our renovation/addition a couple of years ago, we ripped the old carpet out, and realized that there was nice hardwood under the carpet too. So we had it refinished, and put in an oriental runner ther too.

I much prefer to hard wood and area rugs. Much easier to take a rug to have it cleaned than to deal with dirty carpeting.

We ditched all carpeting tears ago. We have had 3-4 dogs for many years now and gave found hard surfaces are just easier to keep clean.

I have nylon plush carpet upstairs. It's a very thick plush and holds up to heavy traffic. Nylon cleans well and is the strongest fiber. I found the best color to hide dirt is olive or a med to darkish brown color. I also have a modern shag kind of carpet in one room. It looks great but does not hold up to vacuuming..... I also have a Berber area rug and you can forget about that! If your pup pulls a loop, it will ruin the carpet. My guys didn't ruin the shags or berber but they are not hyper playful dogs that chew. My guys were pups when I moved in and had carpet put in and the nylon held up the best. Still looks new after 6 years!

No carpeting here either. We have pine floors throughout with the exception of the bathrooms which are tile. The only trouble with pine is that it's soft and gets scratched easily, especially with RLH. However, the floors have lots of character! lol

We have ceramic tiles in the kitchen, entrances and bathrooms and carpet everywhere else. The carpet is a short pile nylon and it's black. I like carpet and I especially like my carpet cleaner made especially for pet households. I have 5 dogs and they RLH very often with no problems with traction. In the dog room I have lino under the kennels and x-pens for easy cleaning placed on top of the carpet.

Mary has the most AMAZING house. It's a fairly new house that they built themselves, and it's made to LOOK antique, without having the "inconveniences" of a REAL antique house… It's gorgeous!!!

Thank you Karen. I truly appreciate the compliment. We did everything we could to make a new house look old when building. It was a lot of fun.
