Sad Tail

Poor Casey....she is at doggy day care today and when I periodically check on her (via live webcam from the day care facility) her tail is always 'unfurled'.

I send here there about once every two weeks to help socialize her -- she is a bit on the insecure side, but her tail is always the same, which I know means she is apprehensive/nervous. The day care itself is really great -- they divide the big dogs from the small dogs, and they are monitored every minute by a human monitor. Casey is pretty clingy with the monitor who does periodically give her some individual lovin's.

I am hoping this insecurity will go away and she will learn to enjoy these adventures and make new friends.

Any thoughts?

How old is she? I think they can go through periods of insecurity. I try to get them out as much as possible. Taking them to parks, pet stores and encourage people to pet them so they can get used to different situations. Sometimes Havs can get to be nervous if they become homebodies. The daycare is a step in the right direction.

I don't have any advice....I recommend a second Hav

I do hope Casey will get comfortable and enjoy the day-care soon. I know it must be hard on you to see your furbaby so nervous.

Best, Poornima

Elaina- I think some dogs can just be like this more than others- like if you ever watch Cesars show he says that is how well behaved dogs should approach new dogs. Dora tends to always carry her tail different and her head lower when socializing with new dogs than confident and up with her siblings at home. I think it is just more so the attitude of the dog and not that she isn't happy it is just how she interacts with others and from dog body language it might be a smart move on her part. Could you possibly set up a playdate away from dog care with some of the small dogs to see if she carries herself the same way and maybe if she would interact with them more where she is more confident in herself?
