Discovered something new!
We've had Pepper for about 1-1/2 years now and I just learned that he sometimes howls when we leave the house. My son mentioned it in passing last night. I was shocked! All this time I thought Pepper would just lie down with the other dogs and nap in my and DH's absence, but not true - at least not always. According to my son, about 15 minutes after we leave - and if my son happens to be in bed or in his room with the door closed - Pepper will begin howling and one or two of the other dogs will join him.
My son will then open the bedroom door and shout down the hall, which promptly quiets the dogs for the rest of our outing. I guess Pepper is content to know SOMEONE is home.
I've asked him to call me the next time it happens so I can hear it for myself. Guess this is one advantage to living out in the boondocks, there's no one to complain about the noise.
This has me wondering...do you think your dogs do things that you have NO idea about while you're gone?
