Unhappy "Poopsicles....."

Daisy was NEVER interested in her "poo" until this winter. When it froze, she decided it was a plaything and started tossing it up in the air (like it was a chipmunk LOL). Now she decided to "snack" on it.

So this afternoon I bought some SEP, added pineapple to her dinner (she loved it), and sprayed a frozen poop with watered down Tobasco Sauce. She went for the doctored poop - and then started licking the snow off the patio. Maybe I shouldn't have watered down the tobasco??

Has anyone SOLVED this problem??

The SEP worked for us, give it a day or so to get into her system. Good luck, that really grossed me out!

Sorry Lynda but I am LOL right now, so many of us have had this issues. The only thing that worked for me was just picking it up right away. I can now trust them and not pick it up but I still do daily, I am such a creature of habit.

Leeann - I never bothered to pick it up during the summer & fall because it was so little it would dissolve with the rain and the lawn mower etc. But once it started to freeze, I started "poop patrol" because I didn't want it to build up all winter and have that mess in the back yard when it defrosted. That's when Daisy decided it was a toy! We'll see if any of the mentioned methods help at all. I hope so as it is just sooooo gross!!! (I am laughing because my DH is in the other room asking Daisy is she's going to give him a "poopy kiss" - instead of a "puppy kiss")....

Lynda, yup been there done that. Poop patrol worked the best for us . But I will also mention if this is something that just started... it could be some sort of nutritional deficiency...(unless she is really more playing with it than eating it) Cash, stopped when we started feeding him more protein (along with poop patrol.) Have you switched Daisy Mae's food recently?

Daisy us adorable by the way...

I dunno...
I've tried it all and have decided that all dogs love smelling butts and some like eating poo...

It's disgusting but: it's MY issue...not his!

Some on the forum have had success with additives and pineapple, some seem to grow out of it. The sprinkling with tabasco was bothersome once it was clear that it wasn't changing the behavior but in that moment. Lola seems to have given up on poop eating now that she is eating a raw diet. Her poops are so small, and much less frequent, and they don't even smell. Who knew we'd have so many issues with such lovable little creatures!

Missy - Haven't changed her diet. She eats NV medallions and we also offer her NV Instinct kibble.

I think she is more "playing" with it and picks it up with her mouth to toss it.

Progress: After I sprinkled tobasco on one yesterday afternoon, Daisy sniffed at it - then started eating SNOW and walked away from the poop. She's gone several times since then - and has sniffed it, but NOT touched it.

I think it's because its frozen - - -she's exploring it and I panicked when I saw her picking it up!
