advice needed for those from wet areas...

We are lucky. We live in an area that only rains during Nov-Feb...once in a while. My dogs are dry weather dogs. They do not go to the bathroom in the house...and actually prefer to do their business on walks rather than in the yard.

The challenge is now it is pouring. Riki doesn't particularly care and will get wet and pee or do his business just about anywhere on sidewalk or grass. Daisy, on the other hand, hates to get wet...and takes forever to choose a spot as she has always done. By the time she chooses the right spot, she is soaked...and cold! And then it is time to do her business. Even with a raincoat, she still gets wet.

What do those of you do who have rain all the time? Do your dogs get used to it? Is this a girl thing?

She has been sneaking and peeing in the house, which isn't a good thing...

LOL! Linda, my Rudy is just like Daisy and we're in wet wet Washington. He hymns and haws at the corner of the garage, knowing I'm going to make him go outside, but determining the least wet path. It's almost funny to watch him make his choice.

Sometimes I plan our outings, looking for a quick break in the weather and that becomes his potty break. If it's really raining, I'll leave the other 2 dogs in the house and just take him out with an umbrella over us. It doesn't keep his feet dry, but it gets him back in the house quicker. I've also microwaved towels for 60 seconds prior to taking him out, then wrap him up to warm and dry him when we come back in.

If it's time for our walk and just sprinkling, he'll stand at the edge of the driveway and refuse to go. LOL

The funny thing is, we have several inches of snow right now, and HE LOVES IT.

With a smile,
Cindy

I love the microwaved towel idea

I think I'll try that right now!

Poor Daisy is little and she shivers so!

My first recommendation would be DO NOT LEAVE DRY CA! I moved from the SF Bay Area to Long Island recently and it rains about 30% of the time.

Benji always hated wet weather. I always leave piddle pads just inside the doggie door and both Benji and Lizzie use them. They haven't had any accidents in the house. During the sunny spell they go outside without fail (even when the piddle pads are kept near the doggie door).

Good luck!

Best, Poornima
