NYC Dog Friendly Hotels

My husband, son, Izzy and I are thinking about going down to the city for a night over vacation. I was wondering if anyone new of a dog friendly hotel is a nice area of the city.

I haven't been down to the city in years. My son is 11 years old and he's never been. I don't know the city well so I'd really like ideas of what area would be good for a family. I'm not even sure exactly what we'll do there. Maybe just walk around, check out Central Park, do some shopping, maybe go to the Museum of Natural History.

I'd love ideas/suggestions.

Bumping you up, hopefully someone lives in New York to help you find a nice place.

The last time I was in NY was in the 60's. Geezzzzzzzzzz, I can't imagine what NY looks like now!

That sounds like a great idea Ann. Was it funny? My DS wants to see a comedy.

It had some funny parts, adults will get the jokes more than kids because you'd have to know The Wizard of Oz well to catch them. A great play, adult only though, is Avenue Q. It's hysterical but NOT for kids!

I can't really speak to the pet friendly hotels (yet) but here are a few links for things to do in the city.

That should get you started.

Happy Holidays... I believe the SOHO Grand accepts pups - we saw some dogs the last time we were there; and most likely the W hotels, since the W in SFO accepts dogs.

Little Mermaid and Lion King on Broadway are great for kids; I took my niece who enjoyed it, and was singing along.

If you're up for walking... I'd do a nice long walk from FAO Schwartz, down 5th avenue to see the windows with the last stop at rockafeller center to have a cocktail while watching the ice skate rink. Bryant Park on 42nd/6th has a free ice skate rink, as well.

Macys on 34th has a great window display this year.

If you don't want to bring the dog while site seeing, there are doggy day care centers everywhere, the place I go to has 3 hour "parking" for about $25.
