Too much snow!

We got another 30cm of snow last night. According to my plow guy this is the 11th big storm of the season and it isn't even January yet! I gave up on shoveling my deck and just shoveled a path for the dogs to get down to the yard. I'm worried the dogs will soon be able to jump over the 6' fence because the snow is almost to the top! Poor little Gemma keeps getting stuck in the big drifts! The first couple photos are from a couple days ago after the ice storm, the others are from this morning. At least I have power back!

LOVE the pictures, even if the snow is a PITA. Glad you have your power on, too!!!

power wasn't a big deal for me, i just went to my parents place, but there are people that are still without power and have been for over a week now (in sub freezing temps). There have been several house fires and one family that nearly died of carbon monoxide poisoning. Luckily communities have banded together to take care of those without power over the holidays. True Christmas spirit has come through. It's still not over and with this latest storm might be awhile longer to get power restored for those hardest hit by the ice storms of 2013.

Poor Gemma. It sure is tough being a Hav and trying to get around in that much snow. I don't envy you, our Canadian neighbors, with the frigid temps and all the snow and ice. I have a friend who is from Ottawa and currently has a home here as well as in Ottawa. She said that the dogs get used to the cold weather up there and go out no matter what the temp is. Brrr!

Be careful, stay warm and don't get frostbite. Love the pictures even though it made me cold just looking at them and your snow covered dogs. Brrr!

Yes, we have relatives we could go to also, in a long power outage, but I have a number of large aquariums, and the idea of a long power outage strikes fear in my heart! We DO have a generator, but whether we could keep the tanks warm enough if the house got REALLY cold is questionable.

There was a big, long power outage in the northern N.E. stats and up into Canada a few years ago, and many aquarium hobbyists lost their entire fish rooms. Fortunately, the hobby community banded together and replaced a LOT of the fish that were lost. Still, it was bad. In my case, many of my fish are irreplaceable, because they or their parents were wild-caught by me.

Great pics but I am so NOT looking forward to going home to the snow, ice and cold. I'm sitting here outside by the pool with a puppy sleeping on my shoulder like a parrot. Like my dad always says "Somebody has to do it, might as well be you."
