CASPER AND MISSY HOME ALONE

I am so excited!!!! I am going on my first "no dog" vacation, since I got Casper...over 2 years ago. Don't get me wrong I love vacations with the dogs, but once in while without them in good. We are going to Cancun, leaving next Tuesday.

I have hired Nannycanine to come into the house and stay with them. The lady works during the day and will be home with them at night. She goes to work at 10:30 -7:30 and my daughter will come in from 3-5 to be with them.

I have left detailed instructions, to make their day as much like their regular schedule. I am just wondering if Casper will accept this lady?
You know he is my problem fur baby, sometimes. No problem with Missy, she loves everyone, she might get a little upset if Casper gets too upset.

We have met the lady, she is very nice and calm. Casper does not do good when his daddy is gone, he just looks out the window all the time.

I kind of picture Casper just barking his head off at the poor lady most of the time.

Here is a picture of Casper while his daddy is packing....he has not figured out I am going yet.

Poor Casper, he looks so sad already!

Have you been able to have the nanny lady come over for visits and treats?

Casper says "Can't you just fit me in the suitcase too? You'll never know I'm here...I promise to be good."

Sheir,
That is a good idea...I will do that this weekend.
Thanks

She has been to the house once, but it was a while ok.

Lynn, my chihuahua is my problem dog. I had a sitter come to stay the night with my babies too. Both of my dogs sleep in my bed and one thing I did was have the sitter over for dinner one evening so she could spend more time with them (and me) and we also all layed on the bed for awhile and played with them and petted them so they could get used to her being in the bed with them. It sounds nutty, but I know it helped. They have accepted her very easily and get very excited when she comes for a visit. They still don't like us to leave, but they seem to like her a lot. I feel better because I've watched them interact for more than a few minutes.

Lynn,

I really want to know how Nannycanine works out for you. I always wonder how much I could leave my boys alone for a multi-day vacation situation - how often I would need to have someone actually there for human companionship vs. just letting them out to go potty and feeding them. Would they keep each other company enough to not need a human around? Or would they get lonely, needing a belly rub and a hug?

Let us know what happens! And have a great vacation!!

Lynn, how exciting and how scary too. I know exactly how you feel. Casper will be just fine. As you know Jasper is my problem boy and he does just fine when we have gone away. But I get so worried everytime. But you do sometimes need total vacations...no kids, no computers and no furkids.

Have a great time...and let us know how it goes.

For a few really long vacations we took the dogs up to my in laws. Dora is the one I was worried about. We came home once from our trip in Japan and Dora was there for over two weeks. My mother in law said she was doing very well but I was a bit nervous she wouldn't tell me if she wasn't. But they even took pictures of Dora being loving and sitting on her lap. When we cam back we stayed at their house for a few days and Dora acted like she never knew them! She was all over me. I think dogs really live in the moment and I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see the photos! They were exactly where puts herself when I sit in the chair on the right side up against but not on my lap!
