Photography question: Camera Shy Hav

Do any of you have tips for getting your Havs to pose so pretty for their pictures? Everytime I pull out the camera Tucker ducks his head. I know he doesn't like having his picture taken, and I have to delete most of his pictures. He either hunches or stares straight into the lense, doesn't seem to be able to relax and ignore it. I wonder if it is from the flash? Or, if it is the noise of clicking and whirring with it pointed towards him...maybe he thinks it is dangerous?

Pablo, Kubrick, (and several others I can't think of the names right now,) take such very confident photos! Is there a trick to it, or is it the dog's nature that makes the difference?

One word...TREATS..lol.. Todd knows that when the camera comes out he's going to get something yummy and so he's much more receptive to being photographed

Aha!

Why didn't that occur to me sooner?! Duh! I'll start carrying treats when I carry the camera!

Treats and make strange noises that Tucker doesn't normally hear to get an interested expression. (Of course, that is assuming that Tucker is normally curious at new sounds.) Professional dog photographers often have odd-sounding squeaky toys to draw the dog's attention.

Yup, treats, sounds, whatever. I do have to say, though, that I don't use treats anymore. Kubrick is SO used to having a camera in his face, he doesn't care at all now, LOL! I still will give him a nice treat if I asked him for a very long photo session, just so he doesn't get too sick of me and my camera.

Sheir,
Yes...treats, treats, treats, their favorite treats. I just was learning how to take pictures of one and then I got another, I can't take very good pictures of two at a time...it is really hard.
I think somewhere Melissa had a thread on how to take good dog pictures, you might try to search for that, I am sure she had some good ideas.

I make strange noises they don't expect, like a high-pitched yip or an exclamation. Though of course they end up looking startled LOL. My problem is getting them not to move . . . .I hadn't thought of treats. Duh, ditto.

HAV A GREAT DAY ! ~~AMY & BISCUIT~~

When you use food treats it is hard to hold the treat and the camera. I find saying their names or making a different type of sound works best for me.
