Exclamation Subscribers of "Our Havanese"

This notice just went out today and I got permission before sharing, but it looks like Our Havanese has been discontinued. Here are the details as shared by a Colorado breeder, Sheryl:

Quote:
Hi all,
I spoke with Kitty Braund today, and she wants everyone to know she has had a set back recovering from her stomach flu and 5 day stint in the hospital. She just can't regain her strength, and her family fears for her safety living out alone in the country, so she is moving to an assisted living home this week. She will have to place most of her dogs. She is moving to a great place that will let her keep one or maybe two with her, but she can't take them until she has regained enough strength to care for them and exercise them. She vows she will make a comeback and I believe she will do what she says, but for right now, she has to slow down a bit and regroup. That said, she regrets that Our Havanese will cease to be published. She asked that you give her three to four months to get everyone their money back on their subscriptions. I know I for one would not take a dime back from her, and I am going to drop her a get well card to cheer her up and let her know that. I have certainly gotten more pleasure from it than I have paid for it.
If you are seeking a refund from your subscription, please be patient. Kitty has been around a long time and will see to it that you get the refund if you wish, but she does need to recuperate and heal her body too.

I'm so sorry to hear that Kitty is still ailing. I wish her all the best. I'll miss the magazine as she did such a wonderful job on it. She certainly doesn't need to send me a refund. How do we let her know if we don't want/need a refund? She has enough to do just trying to get well.

Wow, that sucks. I heard Kitty was sick, but did not think the magazine would stop being produced. Maybe someone else will take over??

Thanks for posting that, Kimberly! My subscription just ran out and I was just going to renew. Whew! I am so sorry to hear about Kitty's health. It must be so hard to have to place all your beloved dogs. I am glad they will let her keep 1 or 2 with her. I hope she recovers quickly.

Susan, I will try to find out for you.
Ryan, I don't think there is anyone to take over at this point. It was Kitty's project and one she held close to her heart.
Jane, I can't even imagine! I'm sure you are right that it has to be hard.

I read earlier today about Kitty and that makes me so sad for her. I did read though that when she is feeling better she can have a couple of her Havanese come live with her in her assisted living. I just hope she recovers fast so she can have her little ones with her. I loved her magazine and I would never want a refund from sweet Kitty. I pray that she gets well quickly.

Thank you for posting this here Kimberly.

I remember just reading a post from a new member of how she read "The Joyous Havanese" before getting her puppy. It was also the first book I read before getting Riley. For those who don't know Kitty is Kathryn Braund the author of "The Joyous Havanese" as well.

Our hearts and prayers go out to her for a speedy recovery.

I too pray for Kitty's recovery. Having to give up your home and separate from your dogs, even if it's not all of them is one of the lurking fears of old age.
I hope someone will start a list of all the people, like me, who don't want refunds.

Leeann, thank you for making the connection for anyone who might not know.

Libby, after she is healthy enough to be able to exercise them, she will be allowed to keep one of her dogs, and there is a small possibility of getting to keep two. It is a very unique facility that allows animals to move in with their clients, but the client must be well enough to care for them. I wish we had something like that here. It can be so beneficial to the seniors living there.
