Colbie needs a haircut

Colbie had her first grooming about 5 weeks ago which consisted of just a sanitary trim, a little trim around her privates, pads, paws, nails, bath etc. We used a mobile groomer who we really liked and Colbie really liked her. (She gave her some wet kisses when she was done)

Although I am sure she would look beautiful in a show coat, realistically we don't have the time to devote to it.

So I'm looking for some ideas so I can let the groomer know what we want. She really listened the last time so the more specific I can be the happier we will be with the result.

Colbie's bangs are starting to cover part of her eyes and the hairs sprouting from above her nose are covering the rest. So she will need to do something in that area. I'm not sure how short to ask her to cut her chest and her sides.

We plan to get her groomed every 4-6 weeks so something that can be maintained at that frequency would be great.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Ron, search for the post entitled, Maccabee's Haircut, dated 10-29-13, and go down to post #25 to see Tyler's haircut. He has been going to the groomer every 6 weeks for that look. His body is clippered and legs scissored. If you like the look, you can PM me and I will send you my groomer's instructions. His haircut has been a big hit on the forum in the past. That being said, I am now, after 10+ years growing it out because of his knee injury. I don't want him standing too long at the groomers and he will lie down for me to brush him.
BTW, Colbie looks adorable in that "do". Good luck.

I would look around for some pics of dogs whose cut you like. You can print out those pics and show your groomer. I took several pics of different dogs with certain parts I liked to show mine. I think pics are very helpful in the decscription prcess. In the beginning I said don't trim tail, muzzle or ears, now I'm having his muzzle trimmed and ears too now that Mae is here. Grooming is an evolutionary process, I'm still tweaking Tim's but am very happy with his overall cut. Good luck, Colbie is very cute. Mae also had her first groom so I'm in the process of working out her style.

She sure does have pretty hair but I understand not being able to keep up with it. I got Ludo "puppy cut" last week. Agree with others on finding a cut you like. My groomer did a little too short right above eyes and longer on top so he looks a bit uneven.
