San Francisco bound....

We're headed out West for a few days, Castro in tow....

Castro is really good in our car, taxi or on the train - I am truly hoping that remains true for airplanes.

This will be the very first time I am traveling with a pet, so I would appreciate any general, airline and/or airport specific travel tips.

We are flying out of Newark into San Francisco, via Continental Airlines (coach class - ugh)

And oh - if anyone is in the vicinity of downtown SF (we're staying in SOMA) that might be around on Fri (1/23), Sat (1/24) - would love to hook up, if schedules allow...

Thanks, all!

San Francisco Airport has a relief area for Castro to use. I'd have to look at the airport map to be sure, but I think it was between the domestic & international terminal areas.

Will you have a car? There are many of us who live relatively close.

1/24 (& 1/25 too) is the big dog show in San Francisco (Daly City) that is benched, meaning that all the dogs have to sit on display all day when they are not in the ring. Unentered dogs are not allowed, so that might be a problem for Castro, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

If you can do the small dog beach walk. I did that when I was up there with 2 of my 3 pups (Dash was a little too young and I didn't feel like I could trust him with running after other dogs). But it was a blast to see like 50 toy dogs run up and down the ocean doing RLHs

Thinking of adding a Neezer, check out this thread!

Is this show at the Cow Palace? My mom doesn't live too far from there, and I know I will be passing it.

Castro may not be allowed, but if I have the time, would love to see some dogs... Aren't there normally stands for vendors - I could take the time to get some doggy products for Castro that I normally wouldn't be able to get without paying a shipping charge.

Hey, Cheryl... Unfortunately, because of the shortness of our trip (we only have Friday and part of Saturday), we are trying to stay within the city. I was hoping to get Castro some play time with other havs, but I guess this may not be the time.

Thank you, tho!

I live in San Francisco and Bugsy and I would love to meet you if you have time. Drop me a PM if you would like to meet.

I also plan to attend the Cow Palace dog show, although not sure whether it will be Saturday or Sunday.
