New Behavior

It's funny but messy. In the evening, usually from 5pm-7pm, Ginger goes into "Wild Dog" mode. Sort of a Tasmanian Devil, I think you all call "Going Gremlin".
She runs around the house like a maniac, now this is the new part. She jumps up and down, front feet only, into her water dish. Splashing and having a great time. At least it's in the kitchen, so most of the water stays there.

It's usually called RLH (run like hell) and is a daily occurrence for most Havanese. Enjoy the show! -Jeanne-

Our Wish rarely do that and its really fun to watch! You should catch it on video..

In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn't merely try to train him to be semi human. The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog. ~Edward Hoagland

Our Rosie has her RLH burst every morning, after we go into the kitchen. She jumps into her daybed from a full run, and repeats the routine several times. It is soooo funny.

Both my Coton de Tulear and my Havanese do RLH daily; it's so much fun to watch, especially when they do it together.

Kodi, who is 4 1/2, and fully adult still has his RLH time in the early evening. In his case, it usually includes carrying some squeaky stuffed toy as he dashes around… intermittently shaking his head to "bash" and "kill" it on the floor.

TODAY, while, of course, Iw as on an important client call, he decided that a gallon milk bottle was better for bashing. You can't BELIEVE the racket!!! I might as well have toddler humans around here again!!!

Ha! No… we give him empty ones from recycling from time to time. He SUED to play with them a lot, but I haven't seen him get one out of his toy box in quite a while. Gotta love free toys!

Years ago we had a lovely woman, Fay, who came to do the cleaning (lucky me!!); Pamba, my first Coton, adored Fay, and when she arrived used to do a version of RLH which was to hurtle into the kitchen, then hurtle back to the front door, then hurtle to the kitchen (across a big room between the two locations) and back again, over and over, at the sheer excitement of seeing Fay. It was SO funny. Fay wasn't a particularly doggy person and was completely overwhelmed by this show of affection!! She couldn't get properly into the house until Pamba wore herself out!!

As if she knew I was writing about RLH, Cuba has just RLH-ed into her fabric squashy bed so fast that it tobogganed down the two shallow steps into our kitchen, with her in it, and shot across the floor into the corner before it stopped - she seems to have LOVED this experience - I put the bed back where it had started and she did a repeat performance!!!
