Look what Tyler has

As most of you already know, Tyler who is 16 1/2, tore his ACL at the end of August and due to his age, we opted not to have surgery. We were told it would take about 3-6 months to heal. We decided to put him into a rehab program where he had his leg messaged, worked his core muscles standing on a ball and had water therapy walking on a treadmill in water up to his chest. He did this twice a week for 3 months and had remarkable results. As winter set in, I didn't want him working in water because it is too hard to get him dry with my hair dryer and he invariably would be going out in the cold damp, so they started working him out on a land treadmill. He took right to it like the trooper that he is. Because of this and the fact that it's been too cold to take him out for walks, plus the fact that he really doesn't want to go for walks anymore, but needs to exercise in order to keep up the muscle in his injured leg, I decided that he would have his very own home gym. He now goes to rehab once a week and works out with me at home. He walks in 10-15 minutes increments 3 times a day and is doing great. He also loves it because it involves lots of treats. Here's his gym (guest room)!

Tyler looks great! You should try to get some videos of him in action. Does he really just plug away when you turn it on? I'd be afraid Tim would sit down and go flying off! I know how hard it is to get out and walk in this weather. We had a great day here today and took too REALLY long walks in preparation for more arctic cold coming our way.

Actually, Jen, I do have a video, however, it won't upload to this site, thus the stills. He doesn't use the treadmill without my holding him on a loose leash while standing in front of the treadmill or by the top of the harness. That way, if he drifts back, a slight tug on either gets him walking again. At rehab, they use the harness method. It actually does work better with him than the leash.
