I have been using this one from Vitacost and like it a lot because it is in powder form and I can easily adjust the dosage (its easier than breaking up the capsules for the small dogs)

I have noticed it helping, butt baths are ALMOST a thing of the past.. There still is the occasional anxiety poopy butt.

I give my Hav human probiotics - I open up a capsule and sprinkle the powder on Emmie's food in the morning and then I take one myself.

Manny takes the Mercola Complete Probiotics. We've had good results so far.

I looked at the types on the human ones my wife has and the one's for Ginger, and the bacteria strains were different.

I only give my dogs human grade holistic goodies.

My vet actually recommends human brands. but it's your personal choice.

My big dog Kara, anatolian 130 lbs, she's a giardia magnet. I prefer Jarro capsules for probiotics. the refrigerated ones are cheaper b/c the ones kept at room temp are genetically engineered to stay alive at room temp so they are more expensive. This is the exact one I use for my dogs, and my mom takes it too:

One time, I wasn't sure if Kara had giardia or just a bout of loose poop, so I have her probiotics, which firmed everything right up. 2 weeks. anytime I'd taper it off, the runs would come back. finally took her to the vet, and ran the poop test for giardia. positive.
That's only ever her symptom is the runs. and the probiotics totally fix it.

good times.

Yes, it is fine to give your dog human-grade probiotics and fish oil, assuming they're not flavored or have any extra ingredients. I find that by giving them to Emmie it reminds me to take them myself as I think of her first and me second. -Jeanne-
