Cat roll call

Which of you have cats? Are you willing to share a photo of your Hav with your cat?

Our Simba passed away in 2008 and never did allow us to take his picture in such a compromising position (with a D.O.G.). Hmph. He really was a feline snoot. (He only played with the dogs when they turned their backs to him and that was usually a swat to their rear and then a dash to the height they couldn't reach.)

Do your cats and Havs interact or just tolerate each other? Is there anyone who wishes they had never subjected their cats to the Havanese?

As a breeder, I often get questions about cats & Havanese and can share my own experiences and the situations my puppy owners have experienced, but I wanted to see if there are any regrets too. Please share the good, bad and the ugly.

Hmmm...I'll have to see if I can get a pic of them together. Might not be so easy. They peacefully co-exist, but there's not a whole lot of cuddling going on.

Unless the cat came in to the household as a kitten with a more mature Havanese, I would not expect much, if any, cuddling at all.

I have two cats. Diesel (Persian X)who is 2 1/2 tolerates Todd and allows him occasional ear lickies..our other kitty Tucker (2 yr Ragdoll ) is his best pal..they wrestle and RLH together all of the time and keep each other company when we're not around to play.
Here are some pics of Todd and Tucker at play and fighting over who's getting brushed first..lol

Here is a picture of CB (16 year old) cat and Bess 6 month old HAV. they get along well and CB will occasionally get up the energy to chase around the house or yard for a minute or two.

This was one of my biggest concerns about getting a dog. My cat is an extremely shy, anxious 5 year old rescued feral. I really worried that she wouldn't tolerate a dog. She pretty much stayed in our bedroom for the first five months, then, all of a sudden, one night she decided to come out of hiding and start interacting. Salsa adores Pansy and wants to play with her so badly. She is gentle with her for the most part, but occasionally I have to remind her to go "easy" with the kitty. Pansy tolerates her pretty well now and they run and chase each other in the yard. The cat controls the amount and kind of play and definitely will not allow any roughhousing, but she seems to actually enjoy Salsa and she knows that Salsa is not going to hurt her. I think it's been good for both of them. Here are some pics:

hahahaha well... Mr. Bugsy does very well NOT running after Samantha (The Cat... Theeee Cat). However, if his Havanese Possy is over here hang'en out, thats another story!

When Mr. Poker and Mr. Teddy were over here spending the night the three of them thought it was pretty dang cool to chase this white furr ball thing around the house. See how many times they could make the white furr ball thing make these strang meow noises... then bark bark bark at her! It was pretty funny the first couple times. But then it got old. Once the Havanese Possy moved out, Bugsy went back to being Joe Cool.

Samantha doesn't mind both Bugsy and Roxy. Partly because they dont bother her. Samantha will play with Roxy because she is smaller, and knows Roxy wont get too crazy. But Sam wont play with Bugs. LOL I think she knows he is an ADD dog! lol

If I ever get another cat (and that wont be for years and years... if ever), it will be a kitten. I want the cat to know the dogs are okay, nice, and fun to be around. Samantha is too much of a Diva to care.

Take care,
S
