I am not a big fan of mixing Havs with other breeds on purpose. I assume this was an accident? It looks like it has a muzzle of a shih tzu. Wonder what it will grow up to look like. Almost all puppies are cute as babies

What would be the purpose of breeding the two together? They are similar enough I don't get it. I know why they breed Poodles and Labs together to try to get a non-shedding dog. But what would be the purpose of this mix? I have seen this mix done on purpose before but I don't get it.

It is a cute puppy but you can see the s/zu in it.

I was watching a show the other day on TV (dogtown) and some lady was saying how mixed breeds are healthier (better) than full breeds, I never knew some people thought that way (and no, I don't agree with it) but some do.

Kara it seems that PETA thinks this way. I do not agree either especially when talking/referencing responsible breeders. Tom King started a thread discussing how PETA is trying to stop the Westminister for pretty much this very reason.

I think the reason is so they can come up with a cool sounding name and charge lots of $$$.. lol

I've always heard that the "mutts" are the healthiest. I have no idea if that's true or not.

I'm sure she did it on purpose but not sure why. She's asking $250 so it isn't a matter of selling for more money. I guess it's just to offer something different that might appeal to some buyers. She also sent pics of a havanese/king charles mix and a litter of pure havs. She's a real nice woman and raises her puppies in the house so not what you'd think of as a puppy mill type situation but she obviously isn't breeding for excellence of any one breed. She mostly breeds king charles, miniature pinschers and french bulldogs. She just got into breeding havs a couple years ago. Many people in the area buy puppies from her and the local vets find her dogs to be healthy and don't discourage people from buying from her. It does seem that sometimes mixed breed dogs have a calmer disposition so maybe that's why some people are inclined to go that route instead of getting a pure breed. I'm not saying I agree with what she does but it's her choice.

Mutts are thought to be healthier, because you can't track health problems of a mutt as easily as you can with purebreds.
