What have you pulled from your pup's mouth?

Puppies put everything in their mouths! It doesn't matter what it is, if it is there, it is there for the taking!

Leaves, rocks, sticks, toy pieces, tinsel, push pin, plastic, yarn, you name it!

Geezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, when does this stage end? I am watching Dexter like a Hawk! When do pups know better?

Depends on the pup!! lol Sammy will put anything and everything in his mouth. That's how he "explores". When I try to take it away, he gets scared he'll lose whatever it is, so he gulps it down, making it a dangerous situation. I keep at it, though, keeping it pleasant and as if it's my right, as his 'mom' to check on anything he puts in that greedy little mouth of his. It's a work in progress..... and he's 2 1/2 .

The WORST thing I've yanked out of Sammy's mouth has got to be his frozen poop! Though, I'm thankful it was frozen!!! The largest thing was a raw chicken wing just last week. I feed them raw, meaty bones and he saw me approaching and instead of letting me at the bone, he tried to gulp it down in one shot. It was 90% down his throat, but I managed to grab it. He's a HOOVER!

Ricky almost never puts a thing in his mouth that isn't actual food. He'll eat any food, try any type of kibble, meat, etc.... but anything else, twigs, paper, and all that..... nope. Not interested.

POO (his own and rabbit), dirty socks, dirty underwear, clean socks, clean underwear, trash, sticks, post-it notes, plastic eyes from stuffed animals (tonight!), all sorts of trash, his brush, dryer sheets...the list goes on. Basically anything he can get to. I think it's our responsibility to keep things away that can harm him. Never know what he's going to get into!

Salsa is not too bad. She does pick up things, but I worked really hard on "drop it" and so even though she gets stuff I don't want her to have she will give it up.

I had a golden retriever pup about 25 years ago that I never trained and she was awful!!! She got a disposable razor blade out of the trash. I did finally get it from her, but she had cuts in her mouth (not serious though). She also took a bite out of a drinking glass left on the coffee table. The vet said to give her bread and oatmeal to help it pass through. The most embarrasing thing was a flattened roadkill squirrel which she picked up on a walk and I could not get her to release it to me until after we got home. I'm amazed that she made it to old age!!!

Lol Marj. Yeah, frozen would be better that plain old raw poop.

I guess I've been pretty lucky. Not too much goes in my neezer's mouths......

Vinny, Lulu, Gabby and Richie too!

Riki never did, just Daisy

Riki never was a chewer. He had this big Clifford dog five times he size that he jumped on and played with. He still has his "object", the squirrel he had as a puppy that he still plays with.

Now Daisy was a chewer, but we were pretty much still child proofed on the floors, except that Daisy could jump even as a puppy...so she could get things off end tables and counters that Riki never could.

She ate a pair of glasses, and my $500 mouth guard. I started giving her teeth cleaning chew bones on a regular basis and that stopped that...and she hasn't chewed anything except paper bags and toilet paper since then. I guess we were lucky.

When Riki was teething, I gave this gum toy that you could put in the freezer that he could chew and would also soothe his gums. I also gave them homeopathic tooth and gum for babies which helped with the pain.

I didn't just get havanese, I got a lifestyle!

Todd loves to grab just about anything that fits in his mouth and a lot of things that don't. Let's see...sticks, leaves, grass, furballs from the kitties, crayons, pencils, toys from my son's room, ect, ect, ect....
By far the worst finds that he makes are leftover remains that the cat catches outside...yesterday he found the back half of a squirrel and wolfed it down as I watched in horror...the tail later came up on the carpet
THAT was fun!!

Most recently...cat poop....
Also, she loves those little plastic things that you pull off with the tags on your clothes...I don't know how she always find them...
One day she had my glasses...another day she had one of my husbands olive wood chess pieces from Israel...also food...she eats anything and everything my girls drop on the floor!

forget frozen poo...fresh poo is much worse!!! and I will never forget the day I first discovered Cash's fetish. Oh yeah the Rabbit was no fun either. ( didn't actually pull the rabbit from his mouth...we just chased him away)

The worst thing the Vet pulled from Jasper's mouth was a staple! I had given little 4 month old Jasper a rug remnant to lie on and he started chewing on it and there must have been a big staple on the back of it. He had stapled his Jaw shut one end on the top the other end on the bottom. Luckily we were there when it happened and got him to the vet right away. Oh I felt like such a bad mommy.

I think it fell out of an old dresser when we rearranged some furniture in our room. Not even sure where it came from. I mean..we do have four kids...
