LOVING the nekkid, cold Cooper :)

Well, many of you have seen the shaved down Cooper. He was a matted mess when he came back, and had to be shaved down. We just had it done last wk or so. Well, as horrible as he looks I now realize I LOVE it!!!!
It's really cold here now, with the highs around 30*. I've noticed how he and Daisy (also cut pretty short right now) have been cuddling really close on the reclinder lately. Sooo cute! I'd take pics, but black dog, white dog, dark colored chair. HA..not comin' out so great.
But, even better than cuddling with Daisy..he cuddles with ME!!! Ok, I know he's just trying to get warm, lol. But maybe he'll learn some more trust? Know how nice it is to sit on a lap, and get loved on? Whenever I sit on the couch to watch t.v, he's glued to my side. Last night, he got up on my lap and stayed there for about 30 mins. This NEVER happens..ever. I had to pee soooo bad, ROFL! But, I didn't want to move. My whole body aches from strange positions I've been trying to hold, not to disturb him this last past wk

Another sad thing I've noticed..his ears. I see now, without all that hair more about the way he reacts to things. Simply calling him over or reaching to pet him. I can see how his ears go back. He looks a lot more unsure about things then before. I think because I can read him better without the hair all over his eyes, and ears. Just an observation that probably means very little. Maybe it's normal. But, I can't see the other dog's ears doing that.

Aw Tritia, he's been through a lot. I'm so glad you have the byproduct of all that cuddling. I'm sure he just needs time to find out he's still the same old boy. Give him a kiss for me. I really want to see pictures.

Actually, this cuddling, "loving" side is all new. He's NEVER been a cuddler. He's the first one to run up to you and give you licks and paw at you till your legs bleed, lol. But, he does NOT like to be held. Never has.

Awwww... Yes, both DH and I have a deal that if Jasper chooses to bless one or the other of us with Lap time...it fair game to ask the other to bring us things so we don't have to move and disturb the prince. How old is cooper Tritia? Jasper has become so much more cuddly now that he is three.

Tritia,
Your observations about Cooper's attitudes that you've not seen before...I wonder if they were always there and you didn't notice because of the hair, or if it is new because of what he went through living apart from you for so long, with people who didn't know him or how to take care of him... You are so tuned into your dogs, it seems to me it might be the latter. Whatever, I've glad he's cold enough to want to cuddle! Whatever the reason, it is so rewarding to have them come for snuggling! I agree with your and Missy's thinking. I never want to move when Tucker is sitting with me because I don't want to disturb him...Can you say "spoiled?!"

Tritia, what a sweet thing for Cooper to do. I'm sure you are loving it! I really believe that dogs live in the 'now' and aren't thinking about what happened weeks ago. They will react to your change in behavior though, so maybe there's something about YOU that has changed. Could that be? It takes two to tango, they say, so maybe there is better communication between you, now that all that long hair is gone. Could be!?

I honestly think it's always been there..just couldn't be seen with all the hair. It's one of the reasons I prefer the puppy cut. So I can see their eyes. I really feel out of touch with them when I can't see those eyes looking back at me.

The ear thing is just kind of new to see. He's always been a bit of a mess with his behavior, lol. But, we love him.

Does it matter if your hand is palm up or down? Lilly has an issue with someone reaching out to her also and I am trying the palm up open hand from under her chin and that is working with her. I tell everone that tries to pet her head (why does everyone naturally do that) that she has dominance/fear issues and I think she does.

Trita, I just LOVED looking at Cooper's nekkid pics. I fully expect to see him in GQ magazine as the centerfold! He's so adorable. I too, was fooled by your new schnauzer, but I could totally see Cooper's beautiful eyes! Maybe this little mix up was a blessing in disguise. I'm sure it'll grow on hubby too! Does he seem to love it? (Cooper)
