Max is a foster brother!

Hi all!

I haven't posted for awhile because all my energy as been applying, and being approved to be a foster mom with HRI!!! I've had so much fun with Max and I love the Havanese breed so much. Max is such a social dog with both people and other dogs that I thought he would be a perfect foster brother. And I'm right!

Meet my foster puppy, Scooter http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3428/...5949d3.jpg?v=0 http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3481/...3b557d.jpg?v=0. Scooter is a 1 year old Hav that apparently has had absolutely no contact with people. Underneath all of his shyness and insecurities he is a very friendly and sweet puppy.

He and Max are having great fun. Normally, the ex-pen is Scooter's alone, but I've attached a picture where Max has joined him for the evening since I had 26 people in my home and the boys needed "their space". http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3095/...52fb4c.jpg?v=0

Wouldn't you agree on the look alikes, Brady and Gryff? http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3507/...d0d06d.jpg?v=0

Oh I am soo excited for you!!! You will enjoy being a foster mommy. It brings you so much joy to be able to help this wonderful breed. I have enjoyed being a foster mommy to Miss.Savannah. I would say the only hard part for me is the thought of her going to another home. I know we will find her the perfect home but until then her home is here with us. Enjoy. Oh and he is such a cutie!!!! Who would not fall in love with those eyes!!

How exciting for you and Max. You are so wonderful to help that gorgous boy. And yes, he does look a lot like my Brady. The thing I love most about Brady is his expressive eyes. He looks at me and I melt. Scooter looks like he has the same eyes. I can see how he could easily capture someone's heart. I am so glad you and Max and teaching him to trust and what life is supposed to be like for a havanese.

Janan,
How brave and compassionate of you and Max! It's a wonderful thing.

I always wonder how the permanent dog deals with other dogs moving into and then out of their lives. You'll have to tell me as you go. Any others who do rescue that can say? I've thought it might make your dogs feel a bit insecure sometimes, wondering who is going next.

Janan, that's wonderful that you and Max have taken this little guy in. Thanks!

Sheri, I haven't fostered but the people who fostered Tess have a 3 yr old Hav and he does a lot of the healing work with their fosters. He brings them toys, shows them how to go outside, will let them eat from his bowl...just watches out for the new ones. They said he's sad for a few days after the foster pups leave but then is really excited when a new one arrives. I recently took Tess over to visit and Clinger clearly remembered her and was excited to see her.

thank you thank you thank you

As a fellow HRI member and one who is busy working on two quilts to raise money to support what you are doing, I SALUTE YOU!

I wish I could foster, but I already have a handful at home...but folks like you who can are our angels!

Bless you!

And please encourage fellow members to join us, we just got in all those dogs from Texas...and we are busier in the first month of January than we were last year. Those of you who are petfinder lovers, join HRI and use your petfinder searches to help rescue those who are in animal shelters not rescues. HRI is in continued need of wonderful people like you who can foster...as well as many other available jobs.

Ooh. He is in the best hands! Please keep us posted with pictures. I was wondering who that beautiful ball of fluff was in the HRI photo! I'm so glad he is with a loving Forum member so we can see more pictures.

Again, thank you so much for your loving care. Max thank you too for helping teach him doggy human manners! I'm sure you will be an amazing foster brother. And Max, you are a hottie!

I didn't just get havanese, I got a lifestyle!

This is a really, really dard video clip of the first day I brought Scooter home. Scooter is the one with the belly band on and laying frozen in this doggy bed. Max is the one dancing around him pawing at him like a cat, encouraging him to play. It's not in this video (the other turned out way too dark to even see at all), but shortly after, Scooter started pawing back. You would think they were both cats instead of dogs. It was so cute. I hope you can see it. YouTube video was even darker than the original.

Janan, that is priceless

How wonderful...Max will teach him how to be a real dog. It just touches my heart. Alana was just watching too. Go Max!

Imagine not being able to play...sigh. This is why people cannot buy dogs in pet stores...no more mills.

Max, you are a rescue hero! And your hu-mom too!

Ah heck, here's the second video even though you can barely see it, at least you see Scooter coming around two minutes later! He's a different boy today, he and Max do the RLH through the house every day.
