New puppies and breeders info

I was wondering if all the folks who post the "new puppy" pictures and stories would mind giving the breeders information? I'm not even sure if this is a great idea but those who are watching the forum and maybe looking for a certain coloring, it would be great to know who is breeding what colors.
Any thoughts on this?

Thanks

Well, since most breeders get a surprise of colors in their litters, and many Havanese colors do change with age, it might not be helpful to even get that bit of information.

While I do understand being drawn to certain colors and color combinations, I'd like to encourage you to put temperament & health above those the immediate look. If the breeder doesn't care about the temperament of the pups, nor has eliminated health problems from their breeding program, the color of the puppy may not rank so highly afterall. Just my two cents of course.

Hi Kimberly,
I do realize the importance of the breeder and temperment but also know there are some looking for that certain "look". I already have my breeder chosen and know that I should have a few choices from the litter. I know it took me some time to find what I had in mind and thought it would make it easier if someone could see who had what here and could start there. There is plenty of info on this site on how to choose a breeder so this would just be some additional information to go along with all the rest.
Or....maybe I'm the only one that is picky about the coloring?

Well, like I said earlier, breeders can't always predict what colors they are going to get. (In fact, very few breeders can unless you are breeding a black dog to a black dog with a history of black ancestors. LOL) Additionally, many Havanese change colors with time, so choosing based on color may only last a short time anyway.

If you have already chosen your breeder, then I'm not sure what you are really asking, so color me confused. I'm in the midst of an accounting project and partially brain-fried, so perhaps I shouldn't even be replying.

Nana- you could always pm a person too and ask them where the dog is from and the lineage if there is something you like and see

Amanda I was asking for others that may be curious to the linage of the pups shown here. I have my future puppy already planned and thought it might have been a good idea?

Hi nanatotwo,

There is a thread in the "Breeders" section of the forum about whether breeders should advertise here and you will see that, at first it might seem like a great way to help new Hav wannabe owners out, it's really much more complicated when we really think about it. There are so many things that can go wrong by endorsing this or that breeder.

Though no one keeps it all hush hush... if someone asks, usually there's a reply for others to view. If people prefer to keep that fact secret, then they may have no problem letting anyone else know via private messaging.

If anyone is reading this and would like to know more about where some members get their Havs, then please ask them. No problemo!

Nana, there is also a website you can go to called havanesegallery.hu

It has a lot of pedigrees and other useful information if you are curious about researching. It is a great resource and starting point if you want to see certain lines.

When we got Kona I was drawn to him for his "ALL WHITE" fluff. The breeder stated it could change, and it did. LOL While he's mostly all white.. his proper *breed* is parti-mix. He's got some black and brown and tan too. Of course he's PERFECT just the way he is.. he didn't turn out to be solid white like he was (mostly) in the beginning.
There is a breeder section and I think most breeders who are comfortable with it will post that they do breed. You can look at their past litters on their website if they have one up and get a pretty good idea of what they will look like as they get older. Good luck finding that perfect baby!

Nana, this might interest you, there is a website, I think if you google "colors of the rainbow" and the word havanese you'll get there. There is a section or page there that shows puppies and then what they look like as adults then I think there is breeder information for the pups being shown as well. but I personally was focused on getting the breeder (reputation, price, temperament of their pups) chosen first, coloring being secondary.

Prairiwind is where I got Peanut and they have a cool website cuz you can see all her dogs, and see what they looked like as pups, see their lineage, a couple of the dogs(for example Ruff and Jamoacha who is Peanut's dad) have a link to a page to see the pups they have sired, etc. Good luck!
