Remy's quirky habit.

When Remy finds a ball she loves, instead of playing fetch she runs straight to the couch and pushes it underneath with her snout. She then cries and stares at us until we come and pull it out. Repeat, repeat.....

Do any of your havs do this? And why does she do this? it's so annoying but also so cute at the same time.

Oh my gosh! My first Havanese did this ALL the time. I finally got balls that wouldn't fit under the couch but I know he didn't like that as much. I don't know why he did it but he sure had fun pushing them all under there and then trying like crazy to get them out.

Gibbs does this with his bone. I know others might suggest it's some sort of resource guarding, but it seems out of context for that. He mostly does it when we stop playing and start watching TV for the night. I'll get on the couch and lay down to start watching TV, and he'll run over to his bone. He'll pick it up, carry it over to the table with a low bottom shelf and push it under. He'll then whimper and look at me. I'll get it for him and put it in the middle of the floor, but he'll carry it right back and push it under again and whimper.

He's playing (with) me.

John

Sounds like the baby who drops all the toys off the high chair, just to get you to pick them up. Same reason A sure way to get attention!

It's got a whole school of scientific thought based upon Amotz Zahavi's "The Handicap Principle" and is known as 'Testing the Bond", which is exactly as Karen says about babies dropping things from the high chair; they need to know how far they can go and how much they are loved, so they 'test the bond'; there are all sorts of fascinating examples in the animal kingdom. I don't think many people know much about this research but it's really interesting.

I'm pretty sure that's Beau's idea of fun. I'm not real amused, though.
