SC folks - has anyone ever been to this rescue?

I've seen them on Craigslist many times and I always think it's kind of odd that they have that many puppies (and that many animals overall in the first place). And the fact that they are taking cash only for the rescues. It just all feels very strange, so I wonder if anyone in SC has ever actually visited this outfit?
"Bird Dog Pet Rescue" in Easley, SC

They have a Hav on right now...and about 70 other dogs...

Easley is near me so maybe I will write them and check it out- I am not seeing a location though? I will try and remember to ask some dog people during the obedience class. I do know a lot of people here will take dogs off of low cost/free sites, and sell them. In my obedience class they were talking about a lady in another small town-Seneca who does this on craigslist and I have seen the posts when I was watching them for Autumn. She was selling Shelties for $200. She will go get the free puppies and dogs and then place them on there for a fee and if it is a purebred even more. It astounds me the difference of living here what animals are valued as v. other areas I have lived in. I am not categorizing everyone but a lot of people won't purchase a spayed and neutered dog cause they can't get their money back. Easley is at least closer to the city so it could be more legit of a rescue.

P.S. I am not with it this morning! I was like WTH bird dog rescue... cause my dogs will chase the birds in the yard <BG> No it later says birds and small dogs. For a rescue group, they sure have a lot of little pups and a lot of dogs....

See, that's what I am worried about...I had never even thought about something like that until I read that link in the other thread and this operation would just fit this scenario a little too perfectly.

If there really are "rescues" doing that sort of thing, they are just as bad or even worse than the puppy mills, because they are profiting from those poor creatures AND deceiving the public at the same time.

I wonder what kind of rules and regulations there are as far as "rescues" go. I mean if they deal with "cash only", and there is no actual shelter location, but "foster homes" only, how can any agency check anything?

I remember last yr there was a "rescue" in MO that I found on Petfinder. I was interested in a little girl Hav they had. When I first emailed, the lady quicky responded that she could meet me half way. No mention of filling out an application, referrals, nothing. Just fork over $500 and she's yours. I ended up passing, but I watched this rescue for a long time. ALWAYS purebred puppies like maltese, yorkies and havanese. And there was one dog that looked like your typical shelter mixed pup that always stayed on the listing. I think she was a broker or something. Eventually I stopped seeing any listings.

We had one on CL that was suspicious too, somebody posted a warning about them and I haven't seen anything since. It is scary, makes you wonder who is behind them. I've seen the SC one many times, just looked at "Palin" this morning. She's adorable and I was thinking that SC isn't far from me either. I'm not quite ready yet though!
