Having a hard time

I haven't been here in a couple of months and I thought I'd give a little update. I'm having a really hard time in my personal life. I have depression and anxiety and am experiencing some bad turbulence in my marriage that I'm not sure I'll be able to live with. I've been seeing a therapist, which is helpful in validating my gut feelings. I am at a crossroad. Hanna's grooming has been neglected, and I'm even afraid of putting my hands on her to feel how bad it is. I feel terrible about it. She has been my shadow and is always with me.

Sorry for your situation. It is a difficult one to be in but definitely survivable. Get as much support as you can, but put in lots of your own effort and get plenty of exercise!. Concentrate and devote lots of time to your dog. Helps to get your mind off yourself. It's not easy that's for sure but I know for a fact if you push yourself to care properly for your Hanna, it will help you!

I'm so sorry to hear you are having such a hard time, Angela. It has to be especially hard with a new baby too!

I'm glad Hannah is there for you. They are little angels aren't they? Don't worry about her coat. You're a groomer. You know that even in a worst case scenario, if you had to shave her down (and I doubt she's really that bad!) hair grows! Maybe you should consider combing her out thoroughly just once, then putting her in a shorter cut, just until your life is more settled again. That's not something you need to be worrying about right now!

Please take care of yourself and dont be afraid to reach out to people for help. Just last night I was watching the Olympics coverage and there was a profile on the USA bobsled team captain. He attempted suicide during a low point in his life. In the interview, he said he realized that even though he felt really alone, there were actually plenty of people willing to help once he reached out to them. I know that can be tough to do. I'm from latinamerican culture and in our family, we are taught to keep our problems in and not show the world. That's not always a good idea! It's great that you're seeing a professional, which is a smart and courageous thing to do. But dont be afraid to reach out to others..whether its help with your dog or just going to coffee with someone. Maybe read some books to by people you admire and/or people who have overcome struggles. Just know that you are not alone and you will get through this bad time.

Chin up Angela, it seems like you have a support system including Hannah and the kids, you're certainly not alone and are a very important person! This weather can't help things either. Know that we are all behind you here and will always support you so don't lose touch!

Im so sorry that you're having such a difficult time. We are all here to support you in any way we can. I am sure Hanna knows you are feeling badly and is trying to help you by being with you. She needs you to care for her. I always find that taking Riley for a nice walk helps me "get my head together" a little. It's good for both of us!

Like the others, I am so sorry to hear of your situation. I'm sure Hanna knows that things aren't right with you, as our dogs are very intuitive and tuned in to our feelings. Hopefully, she will help you feel better just by being there. Hang in there. It sounds as though you are taking all the right steps and please keep us updated.

I am sorry to hear all that is happening in your life. I am glad you are going to counseling. and although I haven't been in your particular situation, I have spent quality time in my deep dark cave. Just recently I've been more 'social', but I am still deeply sad.

Hang in there. One of my few bright spots is my little guy Ollie. always my shadow like you have yours.
