Toys That Last?

Milo absolutely adores all his toys! The problem is that he takes apart any stuffed toy in a matter of minutes. He becomes totally obsessed by it. I did buy him some non-stuffed animals - fox, skunk, and squirrel - but he's getting bored with them. Anybody have some ideas for indestructible, great toys?

Linus does not tear stuff up much, but Luke sure does. And like you said, it takes a few seconds. Those are very expensive seconds!

It took Luke a little longer to destroy his Wubba from Kong. It is "fleece"-covered Kong-shaped toy (actually two separate balls) with tentacles hanging from it to play tug o war with. Of course the original Kongs are great (even better when you drop some treats in). But really any stuffy dies a quick death at our house.

Luke can even pop a tennis ball.

Dexter gets bored with a toy after 15 minutes if I am not playing with him and the toy.

Dexter adores the unstuffed fox, and the stuffed rabbit, and he has not torn up anything yet. Well.....he did get a seam loose from the long hotdog toys, so I put this one up, until I can sew it together.

Is your pup getting enough exercise?

Scooter destroys any fabric toy pretty quickly. Since we know this now we don't spend much $$$ on them, usually buy clearance toys. He has a cute cowboy that's now missing his eyeballs, belt and vest. I'm sure the hat and/or head will be next. He has so much fun with them though! He also loves his deer antler and they last for a long time.

Oliver and Comet destroyed that as well but some how the frog and dog are well used and loved (but still are in good condition)

Milo does get plenty of exercise except at times like today when we're getting sleet.....yuck! I can't tell you how many surgical interventions, "sewing," of toys I've done. He just loves them while he's ripping them. Thanks for some good ideas.

Noa's not particularly destructive, but most of her soft toys that were marketed for dogs didn't last very long. i got her some stuffed animals from Ikea, however, and they've been holding up quite nicely. i like them because there's nothing on them that she can chew off and they have no problem surviving the laundry. Her favourite is the giraffe - it's almost as big as she is and only cost $5.99 =)

Jackson does not tear up on a regular basis, especially if there is a squeaker, because he would rather be squeaking it than tearing it. But his "cousin", Lily the dachshund, is such a ripper and tearer, that we have to put up everything but the Kongs when she comes over.

This is a great new toy selection that we found recently, plus it's cute! It is a little pricey, but so far, Jackson has only chewed one ear off the "Wonky Bonkers" cat, and it has tough tough canvas that seems indestructible plus a squeaker in the head. He will play tug of war with the cat's tail to the point that we can lift him up off the floor with him still attached. You can see that they also have cat toys as well as hilarious political figures.

Another surprising favorite is a cheap little plastic "Little Mermaid" ball from Target that was a little too big for Jackson's mouth until the yard guy ran over it with the lawn mower and put a little slice in it. Now he can grab hold just fine and make a squishy noise with it. He also loves a set of soft balls I bought there from the summer toy section that you toss in the pool (although they are fabric, but they can get wet which is fun).
