First heat cycle has begun

Rory's first heat has just begun, I am assuming, based on the presence of a small amount of blood and her age, just shy of 10 months.

Her coat is also matting more readily, which I presume may be the dreaded 'blowing' of coat?

Do these generally coincide like this, or am I just one lucky guy?

She is about the same age as Zoey was when she went into heat. It is worse than a normal blowing coat . Even a three year old Havanese will have worse hair after a heat cycle. She looks like her hair is nice so maybe it wont be to bad. Line brush with the slicker twice a day. Give at least one bath a week and keep her really conditioned.

I think it might be timing, or hormonal (?)..either way, double the work!! Once Gucci realized that I would bathe her backside off when she was in heat, she got lazy and would whimper at me to clean her up..lol don't miss those few weeks at ALL..

Ginger is about 1 1/2 months away. I'm prepared with pants and pads. Not looking forward to it, but better than spaying just yet IMO.

I bought those too but so far she's very tidy. Probably just jinxed myself . . .

Diva's heat kicked off the coat blowing for us. It was around 7 months.

My two seem to have a few accidents during a heat cycle. Has that happened to you? Unfortunately one of mine likes my bed. I put and old quilt on it during their cycle.

Rory hasn't had any accidents per se, but her aim on her indoor potty has been a little off.
