Introducing our 4th Havanese

I would like to introduce our new, sweet boy, Devon. Devon is a 3 year havanese. He is a dog we have watched since he was about 9 months old. Devon came from a home with his littermate, Murphy. Unfortunately, the family had other commitments and distractions that led to the boys being pretty neglected. The priorities in this family just were not the dogs. I spoke with her about my concerns and she confided that the boys weren't the right fit for their family. She asked me to help her with finding new homes for the boys. Devon and Murphy were very attached, but Devon was not going to be as easy of a placement as Murphy. Although Devon is the sweetest boy ever, he has a history of biting workmen. I suspect a lot of it stems from fear, but none the less, he would not be a good candidate for rescue with a history of "aggression". We helped the family find a great home for Murphy with another family whose dog we watch. Murphy is awesome and settling in beautifully with his new family! We took Devon in our home and decided to work with him here and then find him a new home. When we foster for rescue, we always go into it knowing that there is an end and the dog will be moving on. It is never easy, but we always know that. This situation was a little different. It didn't take more than a few days for us to decide that we will not be parting with him. He is doing great here! He is such a love and is doing wonderfully with strangers. He just needs a little guidance and someone to help him along the way. The nice thing is, he will still get to visit with his brother when they come stay with us So, after all of that, here are some pictures of our sweet, new boy.

What is it about workmen? I had a nutty Border Collie who had issues. One day he was all lovey-dovey, the next day I caught him sneaking up to nip the plumber he loved the previous day. Luckily, I stopped him before the nip but why? Is it the voice, invasion of territory, the size of the man?

I am so glad that Devon found his furever home with you. It looks as if he has claimed his human.
