An awkward topic but funny...

DH leaves for work early in the morning and comes home between 5-6pm depending on traffic. He gets home and spends about 45 mins hugging and loving on the puppies. That’s his tradition with them; he been doing that since we got Hunter 4yrs ago. Anyways, past two days as soon as Canela sees him – she starts to pant a LOT, starts licking his face, kissing on him and THEN she wraps hers little paws around his arm or legs and starts to hump him. LMAO <he would kill me if he knew I was writing this> its hilarious b/c she never been like this before. She got fix last year, but is she in “heat” and just going thru the motions? Or is she trying to dominate him? She does get very jealous if one of the other dogs gets next to him (but only during their bonding time). While she’s humping him and I’m in the background whispering (like if it were her saying it) “yea, you’re my bitch”…. Its just too funny LMAO. She doesn’t do it to me or any of the other 3 dogs. She’s really affection with him more then she’s ever been with me. She has become more his dog then mine. Beside this awkward moment - its very sweet watching them hanging out together. She is his "sweetie" as he calls her. Canela is his little princess - he loves her to death. She is his favorite but we can't let Hunter know or ever find out LOL

In a perfect world, every dog would have a home and every home would have a dog..

I don't think it's dominating behavior, nor do I think she is "in heat". Lots of dogs do it if they get over excited. Kodi will sometimes start right when he first gets into be with us for his cuddle time. We don't like him to do this to people (ANY people) so we push him off of us if he tries and say "Quit!" He knows what this means, and generally settles right down to cuddling that is more acceptable to us.

But it's really up to you where you want to draw the line. It won't hurt anything. (It just might be embarrasing if she starts to do it in front of company!

A friend of mine gets so embarrassed because her dog does this to her husband. But what gets her is her husband says "who's your daddy who's your daddy" and she has to tell both of them to knock it off. Husbands love to push your buttons!

I'm dying laughing! We had a little Chihuahua when I was a kid who loved to do it between the ears of a stuffed rabbit I got for Easter. He would drag it out every time we had company like he had to perform. It didn't matter where my mom would hide it somehow it ended up in the living room when the doorbell rang. My mother was mortified!

It's always funnier when it's someone ELSES dog though!!! lol

Ginger does this sort of thing (started about a month ago). She dumps the toys out of an old small round dog bed (that's what we keep her toys in). She flips the bed over, scrunches it up and begins the hump dance. We usually tell her to cut it out, but try not to bring too much attention to the "activity". This always takes place around 7pm. We'll distract her with toys and other play, but she goes back to doing it. She will stop on her own, but only after about 45minutes.

Simcoe does that too! Granted, she hasn't been fixed yet. She only does it to a few (I assume most loved) people though. She loves wrapping her front paws around your wrist and going at the air. Who knows why!
